The participants of the charity run reached their goal on Wednesday : the ultrarunners who completed the 740-kilometer distance between Bonyhád and Gyergyószárhegy, as well as their companions, were awaited by patron Anita Herczegh, president of the István Regőczi Foundation's board of trustees, and Franciscan monk Csaba Böjte, founder of the Saint Francis of Dévai Foundation, on Tatárdomb near the settlement.
On the spot, a festival was held for the residents of more than 21 Transylvanian children's homes with a difficult fate, the children also had the opportunity to talk with the ultrarunners, who completed the 740-kilometer distance in relays over the course of six days. "It's always a great experience for the children that they can not only run with them, but also ask questions afterward," said Gui Angéla, chief organizer.
The festival ended with the holy mass of Csaba Böjte. Most of the children came from the Transylvanian homes of the Szent Ferenc Foundation, but the residents of the Csibész Foundation and the Magyarfülpös scattered college were also present, and local people also joined the event.
Angéla Gui announced that at this year's edition of the charity run, sports shoes, almost 400 pairs, were given to beneficiaries of ten organizations with a difficult fate. You bought them individually, based on the dimensions given. "I only bought shoes that my own daughters would be happy with," said the main organizer.
He recalled that while in previous years they tried to tie the choice of location to anniversaries, this year they consciously did not stick to it. With this, I would like to send a message that it is not only at Christmas that you have to conjure up love with a shoe box, and that you do not only have to organize a festival for children with a difficult fate on Children's Day. "Even on an average weekday, you have to notice that there are children with a difficult fate, you have to help them," said Angéla Gui, who says that the event sends a message that it's good to help.
The cross-border charity run, which was held for the ninth time, drew attention to strengthening the unity of Hungarians and the importance of charity and blood donation. It took place over six days over a distance of 740 kilometers, on the route Bonyhád-Baja-Hódmezővásárhely-Gyula-Nagyszalonta-Nagyvárad-Zsobok-Kolozsvár-Magyarfülpös-Gyergyószárhegy.
