Nowadays, we no longer have illusions about Europe, but we are not willing to give up our European ideals either, because you cannot live without ideals, and it is not worth living in illusions, László Kövér said on Saturday in Pördeföld, Zala county.
On the thirtieth anniversary of the consecration of the Chapel of the Heart of Jesus, built in the small settlement, the President of the Parliament spoke about how, at the cost of a lot of sacrifices and hard work, we were able to experience how we can create a reality step by step from the ideal of the Hungarian state.
He put it like this:
We have done away with the previous communist illusions that the state solves our lives instead of the people, but we will never give up the ideal of a state serving the Hungarian people.
The president of the parliament praised the centuries-long efforts of the inhabitants of the less than fifty enthusiastic settlements, who experienced many good things and survived many bad things, even wars that lasted for thirty years. In the history of Pördefölde, the history of Hungarian survival over the past millennium is reflected, the survival that was helped by the adherence to our heavenly and worldly ideals even in the most difficult circumstances, he explained.
László Kövér put it this way: as a Christian, the eternal heavenly ideal is Jesus Christ, as a European, this worldly ideal is "a Europe that offers everyone freedom, security, prosperity and fairness".
This ideal of ours was perhaps always strongest in us when they wanted to tear us away from our ideal Europe, he said, adding: as it happened to the homeland and the nation in the 20th century. in the second half of the century, during more than four decades of communism.
He added: the secular ideal of the Hungarians is an independent and just Hungarian state, capable of serving and protecting the nation, helping the homeland prosper and flourish throughout the Carpathian Basin. To preserve these worldly ideals,
"our heavenly ideal, Jesus, always gave us strength to defeat the evil that stalks us"
- He told.
László Kövér explained: In Pördefölden, they earn their living by hard manual labor, and the church was always important to them. They built a church even if the community was not large and even if they did not have their own parish, or they rebuilt it if it was destroyed, he reminded.
According to the President of the National Assembly, the former chapel builders and today's memorialists, i.e. Pördefölde's current community of about fifty people, use the words of Jesus to send a message to the European community of five hundred million: "don't be afraid, just believe!"
Today, there is no more important message than this, that Europe can remain for the European people
he highlighted.
Retired Veszprém Archbishop Gyula Márfi celebrated a festive mass on the thirtieth anniversary of the consecration of the Chapel of the Heart of Jesus in Pördefölde. After the service, the mayor László Kövér and Józsefné Horváth (independent) jointly inaugurated the wooden memorial made for the anniversary in the garden of the church.
