With what they are doing with Hungary, the European Commission is starting to break up the EU, claims András Schiffer.
Among other things, the guests of Magyar Jelen Gynílt Sisak debated the withholding of EU funds for our country. In connection with the topic, András Schiffer, former Member of Parliament, former president of the LMP, was harshly criticized by the European Commission, in whose coffers these funds are hidden. At the same time, he also criticized Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, because in his opinion, statements such as the fact that this money was given to Ukraine take Hungarian negotiating positions into dangerous waters.
According to Schiffer, however, rule of law reports are beginning to turn into burlesque.
Although when this circus started in 2017, there were indeed serious rule of law problems, which mainly arose between 2010-13, he added.
"Compared to this, since then the 'cornerstones' and '27 points' have kept coming, but there is no one who can follow this cat-and-mouse game that the European Court of Justice has been playing with Hungary for at least half a year," emphasized the lawyer. Schiffer missed what he called vile government propaganda and specific corruption cases to be investigated in the latest report.
"A good part of the demands made against our country are not EU powers and are not related to the Union's financial interests," stated the former representative. "And subsidies can only be withheld if rule of law problems directly threaten the financial interests of the Union," he added.
According to Schiffer, if the European Union puts Community law aside and withholds the money that is due to Hungary based on Community law, practically every month or every six months, for reasons that change, then our country can also choose not to pay what it should pay into the Union's coffers.
"With what they are doing with Hungary, the European Commission and the other institutions are starting to break up the Union," said the former politician.
In connection with the EU's objections, he emphasized that the kind of judicial system that operates in our country is the responsibility of the member states. The Union has only to do with the fact that the cases that are brought before the judicial forum in connection with the use of EU funds are adjudicated by independent judges. According to Schiffer, this aspect of our country is not threatened by what powers the National Judicial Council has or does not have, but rather by the fact that since the appointment of András Zs. Varga to the Administrative College of the Kúria, judges without judicial experience have been parachuted in.
