It is not known whether the astonishing increase in the number of aggressive acts was facilitated by the statements of Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron, according to which we must live with assassinations and terrorism. Written by Katalin Kondor.

I am hardly the only one who, partly from my own experience and partly from watching the news, but also with regard to the subjects of fiction books, is forced to state that the number of aggressive acts in the world is undeniably increasing. Proof of this is the fact that the other day our national daily also published the current top list of warrants, obviously because it also counts on the public's help by including the faces of the criminals.

Every hour, the news broadcasts report on aggressive acts committed in the world, be they in schools, on the street, in public buildings, or crimes committed at our borders. In essence, the daily crime report reported by the press is a kind of pea on the wall, on the one hand, because how could a civilian, for example, help the soldiers trying to protect the borders, or prevent the school shootings that are slowly occurring around the world, with many victims, dispose of the insane who kill in hospitals, the church arsonists and so on? Life is full of examples.

I don't know whether the astonishing increase in the number of aggressive acts was facilitated by the many statements made by Angela Merkel and Emmanuel Macron in the last few years (probably greatly facilitated), in which they both said that we must live with assassinations and terrorism.

I must admit, I was shocked when I first heard this "good advice" from them. I am not saying that the warning was indisputably appropriate for both of their countries, as several tragedies have shown that terrorism welcomes and feels good in their countries.

They just forgot to explain why we have to live with terrorism? Why? As the world's most influential leaders, how come they have no idea how to find a solution to unrestricted immigration, to the aggressive acts we experience every day?

We can praise the statements of the two politicians mentioned above, as their offer has worked, indeed, we have to live with terrorism. Like it or not. Why? Because they say it, leaders with ulterior motives just like many of their colleagues, and what they say, we have to accept with our ankles crossed. One of the two politicians is no longer in office. I don't know what he's doing in the background. But it is clear that neither in his country, nor in the active leader Macron's France, no one has any idea how to suppress violent acts. So we stick to their wise view, we have to live with terrorism and assassinations because they say so.

And although it's been years since both Merkel and Macron declared this—what shall I call it? - order, since then we have not received a plan or idea anywhere from the migrant-loving and extremely liberal world on how to reduce the number of assassinations and other aggressive acts, how to live with migrants in the same country, and above all, why should we live with them? Obviously, there are no answers to the questions because they have no idea about it.

Many of us regularly ask the question, why do we let it be like this?

It's hard to decipher. One could refer to the obsolescence and comfort of societies, and many other "alibis", but in fact we have yet to find the answer.

I had - unfortunately, only had - a friend, I wrote a few sentences about him in various articles, if only because for a long time we did not know that there was such a profession as an aggression researcher. I mean, it happened like that, my friend also started working on aggression research with his clinical psychology degree, obviously because he sensed the times. Unfortunately, he died a few years ago, so he didn't deserve the presence of aggression in our lives, exceeding all previous levels. His name was Iván Münnich, he was considered a professional authority.

Already years ago - when we had no idea what our future would be like - he said and described that aggressive games, books, films and advertisements have become predominant in our lives. Worldwide. He also analyzed the aggressive effect of advertisements at the time, and informed politicians about this. Not with much success, it seems.

In one of the reports I made with him, he also stated that Hungarian people are not aggressive. A little surprised, I asked him how this could be determined? If I remember the answer correctly, he said that the crime statistics of individual countries show this, because these data are also suitable for comparison.

In one of his articles, written sometime in 2000, he also explained that he hopes that the press's daily reports on aggression will suddenly have the effect of actually doing something about it. They didn't achieve it, unfortunately. More precisely, if some people are fed up with media outlets whose news coverage consists almost exclusively of crime and harassment, they can't do anything about it. At least until now.

But Iván Münnich also said other interesting things. For example, the fact that, as a researcher, he was forced to consider only aggression where physical violence is used.

I leave it up to the dear reader to interpret this statement. Because for me it means that some of the respected fellow scientists considered only physical violence to be violence, and in their opinion, verbal aggression can be given free rein because it is negligible. Although it is not. In fact, it can be a prelude to physical aggression. As you know, it is just as suitable for spoiling our lives as it is for the physical. Anyone who doesn't notice this in everyday events is lying.

And what the late psychologist doctor described in one of his dissertations was even more shocking to me than what has been listed so far. The essence of his statement: by examining the murderers and the murders, it can be established that the perpetrators almost always suffered some fatal aggression when they were one or two years old. And when they grow up, they can become murderers because they try to take revenge on the world.

All this is creepy, but it also gives us opportunities to act. In other words, we need to pay more attention to each other. Also for science, because it can be used to improve things.

And maybe with the attitude that it doesn't cost anything. Because if sometimes it is difficult to suppress the aggressiveness in ourselves, it is not so difficult to promise ourselves that we will always try to treat the other person kindly and with a smile. I wonder if the peaceful joy will come to this. I don't mean a killer caress. Their problem is a medical case, although it still deserves deeper analysis.

In everyday life, on the other hand, with a smiling gesture and politeness, we can brighten up another person's possibly bad day, and we can even set the tone for a conversation.

Well, but it would certainly be more important to give back the opportunity for teachers to act, to improve the teacher-parent relationship and, of course, to consolidate order in schools (also). In other words, to bring back the consequences of actions. Because that is really missing from Hungarian public life. Elsewhere too? World trend? Yes, it is. It would be good to know how members of society think about this. This would be a real national consultation. Because my late friend also said that the role of science is clairvoyance. We should help them. To really be.
