A young man bought HUF 600,000 worth of groceries from a SZÉP card he found on the street. A resident of Szolnok left the card in the stairwell on April 13, and after contacting the relevant financial institution, it turned out that the HUF 600,000 on it had been spent the same day.
The card was found by a 23-year-old man who, instead of returning it to its owner, spent the hundreds of thousands in the local market hall with his partner and father. They bought so much that they ended up having to call a taxi to get home.
Two days after the purchase, a huge family event was held, so by the time the police found them, they could no longer seize part of the purchased food.
The investigators interrogated the members of the trio, who confessed, for the crime of fraud committed using a cash-substitute payment instrument.
