The Hungarian Reformed Charity Service (MRSZ) donated one hundred and twenty school bags filled with school supplies to schoolchildren in need, and the Királyhágómelléki Reformed Church District donated HUF 3.4 million worth of food to the Subcarpathian free kitchens at the Episcopal Office of the Transcarpathian Reformed Church District.
Károly Czibere, the chairman of the board of trustees of the MRSZ, announced at the handover ceremony in Beregszasz that the value of the school supplies collected in Transcarpathia exceeded HUF 2.8 million, to which the Transdanubia Református Egyházkerulet contributed 30 school bags in addition to the individual donations.
It's not easy to make a living in Hungary either, despite this, we see that donations are increasing, because everyone in Hungary and throughout the Carpathian Basin thinks it's important not to leave the people of Subcarpathia alone, and to continuously help the people living here by all means, stated Károly Czibere.
Thanks to the MRSZ, a donation of 3.4 million forints worth of non-perishable food items offered by the Királyhágómellék Reformed Church District also reached its destination.
Bogdán Szabolcs, the bishop of the church district, said that they helped even before the outbreak of the war, as the people living in Partium feel that the Transcarpathian Hungarians are fellow-destined. And now, durable food was bought from the amount from donation campaigns organized in the churches, individual donations, and pocket money. With the shipment, they support the operation of the diaconia free kitchen operated by the congregations of the Transcarpathian Reformed dioceses and maintained by the church district.
By donating, we will not become poorer, but we will become richer, because it is better to give than to receive, this is what the word of God proclaims - Bishop Bogdán Szabolcs explained.
Receiving the donation, Sándor Zán Fábián, the bishop of the Subcarpathian Reformed Church District, said that 120 half-orphan children will receive the school supplies package, and later on, the Johannita Helping Service will help facilitate the start of the school year for 50 orphan children.
Regarding the use of the food donation, he said that it will be distributed among the fourteen free kitchens operating in the church district, where elderly people in need of support and disadvantaged children can eat.
According to his words, many more people need help in Transcarpathia, but we are grateful that neither children nor elderly people left alone are in need, as we can help through the Transcarpathian Hungarian Reformed Association - said Bishop Sándor Zán Fábián.
