A small quarrel developed between Farkasházy Tivadar and István Ujhelyi, and then the left-wing king of humor declared that he would not restart Szárszó with this illustrious company and would not hand over the baton either.
"I was surprised to learn from a friend that we are restarting the meeting in Balatonszárszó! - with István Ujhelyi and Péter Horgas, I invited you to Margitsziget on September 9, together with many others, where I will symbolically hand over the baton at the SzázSzó meeting," wrote Farkasházy Tivadar in his publicity published in the Saturday issue of Népszava He continued by saying
"I didn't know about this, because I didn't write, I didn't receive it, even though it would have been nice if I invited myself.
After all, Comrade Rákosi was also invited to Comrade Rákosi's 60th birthday.
Because of that, I could still be there, since I will be in Pest that day, on the other side of the Danube, I will say a few words at the Fejtő statue, who was not only with us in 2003 in Szárszó, but also with Attila József in 1937. But then I hurry to Kötcsé, where I will receive the baton from the organizers of the Civic Picnic".
István Ujhelyi announced in mid-August that he would revive the Szárszó meeting.
The EP representative told 24.hu at the time:
"I have been thinking for years about the need to revive the tradition of meetings in Szárszó, it would be very suitable for public life".
According to the politician, by breaking with his former party, the MSZP, and not running in the next EP election, the time has come for him to realize this vision. He also contacted the former main organizer, Farkasházy, and Péter Horgas, the head of the Civil Base, who assured him of their support, he added.
"I will not start Sárszó with them again"
Farkasházy now wrote about all this in Népszava that there would be no problem with Ujhelyi's initiative, "if the invitation, which I wrote down without my knowledge, did not contain three statements that, to put it mildly, do not correspond to reality, because:
1. I will not start Sárszó with them again. 2. I don't pass the baton. 3. I didn't invite anyone to it".
he pointed out.
The left-wing comedian also stated that he has no objections if a similar event like Szárszó was held,
"I assured Ujhelyi of this, just not in my name, and don't be called that. I would have been happy to welcome him on the spot, dropping in for an hour, but if I brought it up there, I would only spoil the certainly good atmosphere, so I can only wish him all the best from a distance."
- said Farkasházy in his opinion article.
