An outdoor mass was held on the occasion of the Marian Congress in Zalaegerszeg.
On the anniversary of the Zalai Mária Congress 75 years ago, the Catholic event was revived again, with which they also pay tribute to Prince József Mindszenty, who served in Zalaegerszeg for 25 years. On Friday, Dr. Archbishop György Udvardy of Veszprém celebrated the Veni Sancte celebratory Mass in the Franciscan Church of the Heart of Jesus, and then led a torchlight procession to the church in Garden City. The next day, on Saturday morning, the faithful were waiting for an open-air mass on the main stage at the site of the Vadpörkölt Festival.
Several settlements in the counties of Vas and Zala were represented at the service, where Abbot László Stróber first brought up the example of the wedding at Cana, when Jesus performed his first miracle, at the gentle request of his mother, Mária Szűz. Her caring, concerned love, warning and faith have not faded to this day, Mary's admonition still speaks to us today. If we don't worry, but listen to what his Son says, then Jesus still works miracles, said the father.
Dr. János Székely, the bishop of the Diocese of Szombathely, mentioned the congress 75 years ago for the first time, when "the beauty of the faithful Zala" came to greet the Blessed Virgin, as they sang in the Hymn of Mary of Zala in 1948. In a similar way, the faithful brought their requests and their hearts to Our Lady.
Dear pilgrims, without faith, without the fertilizing power of Christianity, neither Europe nor our country has a future. As the prophet Isaiah said, if you do not believe, you cannot remain. That is why we pray for faith, for its strengthening
said dr. János Székely.
Later in his sermon, the county bishop touched on the following: just as God revealed the God-man covenant with the Ten Commandments, Christ revealed his glory at the wedding in Cana. The head pastor reminded us that human cultures have always known that a beautiful, objective divine order is written into the world, according to which man must live. Since the Enlightenment, the Western world has been discarding this ancient order when it moves away from the Creator. Despite all this, humanity is irredeemably religious, which shows that we need this divine order.
At the Mária Congress on Saturday from 7 p.m., dr. Gyula Márfi, the retired Archbishop of Veszprém, will present the Te Deum Mass in the Mary Magdalene Church, and finally, from 8 p.m., there will be an oratorio performance of the rock opera Mária evangelima by László Tolcsvay - Péter Müller - Péter Müller Sziámi.
The goal of the Zalaegerszeg Családkapocs Christian Cultural Association, which organized the congress, is for the faithful to remember the former events, together with the Szombathely Diocese, the city parishes, the Mindszentyneum, and the city of Zalaegerszeg, while strengthening the feeling of belonging.
