The old and new colonizers never came for the purpose of colonization, but for the sake of faith, culture, civilization, spreading prosperity, for the sake of the "natives"!
The problem is that some of them believe this, and it's even worse that the natives are also largely convinced. In particular, they are trying to cultivate a treasonous class to dumb down their own people.
This is happening on a global scale now!
A referendum does nothing to help with this, but it can be useful for forging the national side and preparing for the elections, like a peace march.
