September 14–16 this year's Budapest Demographic Summit will be held between 60 heads of state and government from all over the world. Among other things, President of the Republic Katalin Novák spoke about this on the InfoRádió broadcast on Tuesday afternoon.
The venue of the biennial event will be the Museum of Fine Arts, September 14–16. between. According to the event's website, the Budapest Demographic Summit is the most significant international strategic forum on demographic issues, which has been organized since 2015.
This year, around 60 heads of state and government, church leaders, opinion leaders, media personalities, thinkers, NGO leaders from four continents will share their thoughts on how we can create a safe, predictable future for families and future generations.

Regarding the event, Katalin Novák was a guest on InfoRádió's Aréna program, who said that it would be important for western thinking to change, because young people are giving up on children or not planning to have children. It also turned out that, according to him, the negative demographic process is starting not only in developing countries, but also in underdeveloped ones.
He emphasized that the Hungarian people are most interested in Hungary, but this is a problem affecting the whole world, in which dialogue is the most important.

He also said that although he is no longer a member of the government, he can still help people considering having children in many ways. According to him, not only family subsidies are important, but family-centered thinking also contributes to having children, as well as passing on your experiences. After that, he praised the Hungarian family support system at length.
According to him, incentive subsidies are very important, but
everyone is free to make their own decision to have children.
He stated that it is important to understand that family is not such a rosy thing that people see in advertisements. The life of most families is much more hectic, full of tragedy and difficulties.
One of their children, for example, went to the emergency room the night before admission, so he couldn't sleep much.

As we wrote about earlier, the Italian Prime Minister was personally invited to the Hungarian capital by President Katalin Novák, and after a comment written on X, the American billionaire Elon Musk also received the Hungarian President's invitation to the event.
In this connection, the name of the billionaire was also mentioned, as Katalin Novák quoted from him. As he put it:
I could quote Elon Musk, who said that the demographic challenge is now more serious than the climate crisis, a bigger problem for the future of the developed world. I also tend to see this as a true statement. This is a problem typical of Europe as a whole, but even of the Western world as a whole.
Opinion leaders from all over the world came to the event to give a presentation at the summit. Among others, clinical psychologist Jordan B. Peterson from Canada, Nobel Prize-winning economist James Heckman from the United States, and preacher and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic from Australia.
Not the Office of the President of the Republic, but the Sándor Palace
Regarding the fact that the Office of the President of the Republic became the Sándor Palace, he said that the reason behind the decision was that the building was built at the beginning of the 1800s and had this name.
"The name of the building is the Sándor Palace, and with this we are actually following an international practice. In many places, the so-called office is also named after the building, and we broke up with the name office because I don't want my colleagues to see their workplace as an office, and they don't even function as an office."

In addition to Katalin Novák saying what an honor it is to be the first female President of the Republic of Hungary, she was asked why she takes such a part in diplomacy if she is not a member of the government. To this, he said that because directness is important in every situation, that is why he traveled to Kiev.
An honest dialogue regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war would be important. In this, closed conversations can help a lot if they discuss how to help Ukraine without getting involved in the war. How to help so that no one gets involved in the war. It is not necessary to talk about the outcome of the war in public.
He stated that Russia will still exist in 200 years, it must be reckoned with, but it is important that Ukraine does not fall apart, losses on the Ukrainian side must be minimized.
But as he said, the Ukrainians have the right to decide how many sacrifices they will make, but we also have the right to decide how many sacrifices we will make.
