The autumn session of the Hungarian Parliament opened on Monday with the Prime Minister's speech, in which he said that the Soros, the Brussels bureaucrats and the American democrats will act against our country at the same time in the fall.
The Prime Minister reported on the government's summer work, indicated that progress had been made in the matter of solar panels, and that he would intervene again in fuel prices if necessary. Viktor Orbán indicated that we do not want to return to the Gyurcsány era. According to him, Hungary's politics are stable enough and its economy is strong enough to beat inflation, protect pensions and salaries, and achieve significant economic growth again next year.
I am reporting to the Parliament that we have successfully organized the biggest sporting event in the country, the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, said Viktor Orbán. The Prime Minister thanked the organizers of the competition and the volunteers, and presented the figures, stating that the World Cup brought back double the cost of the organization as income for Hungary.
- As you know, one of the outstanding commitments of the national government is to maintain Hungary's energy security and build a system that guarantees our independence - underlined the prime minister. He pointed out that Brussels decided to disconnect Europe from Russian energy carriers, which, according to him, is against Europe's interests, but the negative effects of Brussels' decision must be reduced and the situation must be adapted to.
He indicated that half of Hungary's gas supply comes from the south, and from now on we also buy gas directly from Turkey. "They can see that the weight and role of the East and the Turkish world will increase. The Hungarian government has been aware of this for a long time," he noted.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the whole world is competing for Qatari natural gas, the leaders of the European Union are giving each other the door handle in Doha, and the visit of the Qatari Emir to Budapest greatly improved our chances in this competition.
The Hungarian government has been aware of these processes for a long time, and the fragility of the Minsk agreement, which was brought under the roof in order to settle the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, was obvious to them from the beginning.
- We have seen that if Ukraine does not give up its intention to join NATO, it is only a matter of time before we have to reckon with another conflict, which will also endanger energy supplies from Russia, so we raised our Central Asian relations to a friendly level, so the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the terrorist attack against the North Stream did not present us with an insurmountable task regarding the country's energy supply, said Viktor Orbán.
"I mean, the government has done its homework and filled up the country's gas reservoir. 60 percent of the annual gas consumption is available," the prime minister noted.
- We are also making great strides with regard to renewable energy sources: we have inspected our entire electrical system, we have delineated the areas where we cannot accommodate solar panel connections and production without network development - announced Viktor Orbán. As he said
the results of the inspection are encouraging, we can open a significant part of the national network and accept the population's solar energy.
Since 1990, our country has reduced carbon dioxide emissions while increasing economic output. - With the construction of Paks2, the solar energy capacities and the construction of reserve power plants, we are making Hungary independent, we are 4-5 years ahead, while other countries are now opening dozens of coal-fired power plants - the Prime Minister referred to Germany. According to him, it is ironic that all this is happening in a green-led country, while Hungary belongs to the club of climate champions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the NATO Innovation Week has just ended in Budapest.
He indicated that this year four thousand have already signed contracts with the national defense.
- There was a serious conflict between Hungary and the Brussels bureaucrats due to Ukrainian grain dumping. Our country opened a transport corridor so that Ukrainian grain could reach Africa, but we were tricked, Viktor Orbán explained.
As he said, it was possible to achieve a European import ban, but the EU lifted it, which is ruining Hungarian farmers.
- We call on Brussels to stand by the Central European member states and not to betray Hungary either - he emphasized.
The Prime Minister said that the Ukrainians have been tormenting the Hungarian schools in Transcarpathia for years. "Hungary does not support Ukraine's NATO membership until the previous laws are restored," he added.
The prime minister then also spoke about inflation, according to his interpretation, the central bank cannot fight the fight against inflation, so the government took it over from him, and the government is also responsible for it.
We have introduced an online price monitor and a mandatory price reduction, he explained. He stated that by the end of the year, inflation will surely be below ten percent.
– As you know, the central bank has accumulated serious debt in recent years, which we, the budget, should pay. The budget is capable of this, but only if we withdraw significant funds from important areas of economic and social life - Viktor Orbán described the situation.
The Prime Minister recommends to the Parliament not to do this, but to save the central bank from its predicament by amending the law, which will be submitted by the governing parties in the next period, but he has not yet revealed any details.
Viktor Orbán also spoke about fuel prices, stating that if traders do not know or do not want to keep prices under control, the government will intervene again.
- The government also made decisions in order to make Hungarians with savings interested in investing their savings in government securities, this is useful for the budget and also useful for those with saved money, because the interest paid on loans is not paid to foreign lenders, but we will give it to the Hungarians - Viktor Orbán explained the government's mid-summer decision.
Currently, two-thirds of the Hungarian national debt is in the hands of Hungarians. 24 percent of the total public debt is held by Hungarian households.
"Hungary is doing everything for peace, but unfortunately, the Russian-Ukrainian war continues, tens of thousands of people are falling victim," Viktor Orbán said about the war. He said that they urge the end of the war with inexhaustible patience. "Diplomats must take control back from the hands of the soldiers, otherwise the women will wait for their sons and fathers and husbands to come home in vain," Orbán predicted.
- Those who fled here from the war were given security, the Hungarian government will not fulfill the request of the Ukrainian government in the fall, and we will not force anyone back into the war - stated Viktor Orbán.
The debate between Brussels bureaucrats and Hungarians will continue, deepen and widen.
Viktor Orbán emphasized that when we joined the EU, it was about the free flow of capital, but there is not a single word in the contract about accepting migrants.
"We can't accept any of that." We don't need a migrant camp or a migrant ghetto, but a border guard, he stated. As he said, there will be a European solution only if they understand in Brussels that only those whose applications have been evaluated can enter the EU.
He indicated that additional demands were made from Brussels. - We are in a period when the conflict with Brussels can only be won with the support of the Hungarians. Brussels is not facing the Hungarian government, but the Hungarian people.
We do not accept that Brussels bureaucrats decide what the price of energy should be in Hungary, but we also do not accept that the extra profit tax be introduced
- recorded the Prime Minister. As he said, the introduction of the interest rate cap is only possible if inflation and with it interest rates fall significantly, but the time has not yet come for that.
"There is no question of austerity." Utility protection must be maintained, pensions must be increased, pensioners must be given the amount that will make inflation higher than expected, and wages must be brought into balance with prices by the end of the year, so that in 2024 both the economy and wages to start growing again - underlined Viktor Orbán.
He drew attention to the fact that Brussels should rather give the funds due to the Hungarians, instead of demanding additional money from us for the interest on the loans.
– In autumn, Hungary's opponents will perform simultaneously. The Soros empire, the bureaucrats in Brussels, the American democrats all want from us things that we cannot and do not want to give them, said Viktor Orbán.
They want us to join the war, supply weapons and give, give even more money to Ukraine, but at least contribute to giving them our money.
Brussels wants us to let migrants in and build migrant ghettos for them. Let's let sexual propaganda into schools and give up independent foreign policy, let's give up the right to make a unanimous decision on foreign policy issues.
"They threaten that if we don't do this, they will withhold the money from Brussels and pay the Hungarian left, that is, the domestic opponents of the Hungarian government, through the coffers of the Soros empire," explained the Prime Minister.
What can we answer to this? also asked this poetic question in his speech. According to him, Hungary does not belong to the club of Jawohl countries who, when they receive a phone call from Brussels, just say: "Jawohl!".
As the Prime Minister put it: Hungary does not allow anyone to limit its independence and sovereignty. "Not only because of common sense and historical experience, but because the Basic Law does not allow this, in fact, it definitely prohibits it," added Orbán.
The Prime Minister indicated that the government's position is unchanged, that they maintain their previous offer, according to which we do not demand that they adopt our views, in return we ask that they do not ask us to do the same.
But we can also choose to answer the question that we cannot accept their economic aspirations, because we cannot go back to where Hungary's opponents want to lead us: to the Gyurcsány era.
When the fate of our country was decided not here in Budapest, but in Brussels and Washington, when the IMF sat on our necks and imposed austerity measures. When banks, energy companies and telecommunications were all owned by foreigners, when lending was done in Swiss francs, which involved millions of families and almost the entire country.
– When they took away one month's pension from pensioners, took away one month's salary from nurses, doctors, and officials, abolished family allowances, and Hungarian families paid the highest utilities in Europe. We don't ask for that, once was enough - summed up Viktor Orbán briefly. He clarified:
Hungary is politically stable enough and its economy is strong enough to break inflation, protect pensions, salaries, jobs and achieve significant economic growth again next year.
- I wish for a productive session, high-quality, well-intentioned debates that serve the interests of the country, and standing up for everyone in their respective positions - concluded the Prime Minister's speech.
