More than three-quarters of Hungarians donate regularly, almost a third of them every six months, and 17 percent of them donate once a month, said the regional head of Visa Hungary at a press conference in Budapest on Monday.
Bence Sármay explained: more than half of the donors donate less than HUF 5,000, almost a third donate between HUF 5,000 and HUF 10,000.

The majority of those involved donate by bank transfer or in cash, however, seven out of ten respondents indicated that they would be happy to pay by card when donating, if it were possible. For the latter, almost half of the respondents said that

I would also like to experience the simplicity, security and convenience of everyday card use when donating.

Therefore, Visa launched a campaign to encourage bank card donations, said Bence Sármay. 11 indoor and 3 outdoor fundraising totems have been placed across the country. At these points, you can donate using a bank card or smart devices

for the National Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (SINOSZ) until October 24

- informed.

Outdoor donation points are located in Budapest at the House of Hungarian Music, Akvárium and Westend. In addition to the capital, indoor units were also placed in the countryside: Győr, Szeged, Kecskemét and Miskolc.

In connection with the launch of the campaign, Bence Sármay said that Sunday - September 24 - was the World Day of the Deaf. He added: according to 2020 data, there are more than 1 million hearing-impaired people in Hungary, more than 10 percent of the population.

Ádám Kósa, member of the SINOSZ presidency and member of the European Parliament (Fidesz), said that they undertook the cooperation in order to draw society's attention to the world of the hearing impaired.

Visa also launched another campaign in which, similar to SINOSZ's fundraising, it cooperates with Change Hungary, supporting the company in setting up 51 donation collection points throughout the country.

Thanks to bank card donation collection at these points, people can support many foundations and NGOs.

Founded two years earlier, Change Hungary deals with the installation and operation of donation totems. The company is associated with 28 organizations that are active in the fields of child protection, education, culture, environmental protection and animal protection. At the donation collection points installed in cooperation with Visa and the company, the donation given using a bank card is sent directly to the bank account of the supported civil or non-profit organization or foundation, Gábor Fodor, the founder of Change Hungary, told MTI.

Visa is a world leader in digital payments, connecting consumers, merchants, financial institutions and government agencies in more than 200 countries and territories around the world, according to a statement released on the spot.

An online survey investigating the donation habits of Hungarians was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of Visa in August of this year, with 1,000 people interviewed.
