World-famous guitarist Al di Meola, who gave a concert in the Romanian capital on Wednesday night, is being treated for heart problems in a Bucharest hospital.

Florin Bica, the spokesperson of the Bagdasar-Arseni hospital in Bucharest, told the Romanian state news agency that the American guitarist was brought to the cardiology department of the hospital on Wednesday evening. Since then, he has been treated there, and his condition is stable.

The world-famous guitarist gave a concert in the Romanian capital on Wednesday night. Around midnight, during the concert, he became ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. According to Digi24, he suffered a heart attack and the doctors implanted a stent in him.

At the jazz guitarist's concert in Bucharest, Ineffable, formed by young Hungarian musicians from Csíkszereda, was the backing band.

Al Di Meola is one of the best-known fusion jazz guitarists, composers, and producers. He tried his hand at many musical styles, his records include world music, flamenco and funk in addition to fusion and Latin jazz. He is considered a master of the electric and acoustic guitar.

The 69-year-old American guitarist has been at the forefront of the world since the mid-seventies. He played in the legendary band Return to Forever, and his first solo album, Land of the Midnight Sun, was released in 1976. In the late 1970s, he played for the first time together with Paco de Lucia, the Spanish master of flamenco, and John McLaughlin, the guitar virtuoso of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. With their trio, they took to the stage several times in the nineties, with great success.

In Romania, in August, he also performed in Cluj-Napoca on the closing day of the Hungarian Days in Cluj-Napoca, as a member of the Mandoki Soulmates' Hungarian pictures production.
