Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Radio Kossuth Good morning, Hungary! he said in his program that our country can be proud of the fact that it can give a significant pension increase to the elderly. The prime minister also said that it is not a realistic scenario for war-torn Ukraine to become a member of the European Union in the near future and that the current Hungarian parliament is unlikely to support this. The prime minister also expressed his concern that the migration pact will continue to be discussed in Brussels, and that after Germany, Slovakia will be among the countries that opposed the adoption of the current draft.

At first glance, any expenditure such as the pension increase causes a deficit in the Hungarian economy, but life does not work that way, you cannot tell people who have worked all their lives that rationality dictates that you will not receive the pension. what you expected. This is what the left used to do, but we think in terms of nation, family, country, and people, so we give it away - said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Kossuth Rádió Good morning, Hungary! in his show.

According to the head of government, it was during the Gyurcsány era that he was taken from the pension, and the current government did not do this despite the coronavirus and the war.

The Prime Minister stated that he would like the country to feel proud because we were able to implement the pension increase, which did not happen in many European countries.

According to the prime minister, the traditional responses to the inflationary pressure on the country turned out not to be suitable for dealing with such a monetary deterioration. The central bank did not succeed, but it could not have succeeded, as they have a knife, and for this work they needed an axe, he said.

The world is used to central banks solving such situations, but due to the increase in energy prices, we had to intervene and we succeeded in cutting down inflation.

By the end of the year, there will be single-digit inflation, and next year it may be around 5-6 percent.

The question now is when we can restart the economy, when wages can be raised. According to Viktor Orbán, perhaps in August, but certainly in September, wages increased more than prices, economic growth in the third quarter is already in the positive range, and there is a forecast from a global company, according to which it is quite possible that in 2024 Hungary will have the largest economic growth. In addition, thanks to the investments and developments, the competitiveness of the Hungarian economy has also improved. All these together give hope that

2024 will be the year of rebuilding economic growth

Viktor Orbán said.

Viktor Orbán said that Hungary saw the war differently from the beginning than the Western world. We said that this is not our war, while the Hungarians localized it, the West globalized the conflict, he added.

"Regarding the war, I have the worst feeling these days": the front line is not moving, there are seriously injured people and new and more dangerous weapons are being deployed that can reach us as well.

The prime minister therefore believes that "the Hungarians are not right, but will be right" in their attitude to the war.

Ukraine's accession to the European Union was also discussed.

Viktor Orbán said that all EU member states must contribute to Ukraine becoming a member of the union. He added, looking at the Hungarian parliament, that he did not see in the meeting hall that this would be voted on within 2 years. As he said, we can't get around the fact that

Ukraine is at war, we do not know the exact size of its territory and its population. He emphasized that the system of the European Union is based on the territory and population of a member state. It is unprecedented for a country to be granted membership in the absence of this information.

Brussels is asking for more money from the member states, while Hungarian EU funds are still being delayed.

Viktor Orbán said that we will run out of money to be given to the Ukrainians. He underlined that not only us, the union also has more money. He added: if we want to give more money to Ukraine, the less developed EU member states will get less EU funds.

Another option for this, which is also Brussels' answer, is to take out a loan. The Prime Minister said that this was also done under socialism, they took out a loan, which we are paying today. He emphasized that this would mean that

we give our grandchildren's money to Ukraine.

The prime minister also touched on the fact that the resources belonging to Hungary may already be in Ukraine. He put it this way: we don't know exactly because Brussels doesn't speak clearly.

Viktor Orbán said that Brussels owes Hungary 3 billion euros. We always pay what we need, but what we should give them doesn't come. The prime minister revealed that we received another 9 questions, which, according to the European constitution, have nothing to do with Brussels. He underlined that Hungary has fulfilled everything, despite this, Brussels does not want to give us the resources due to us.

According to the prime minister, they want to overthrow the Polish government in Brussels and are waiting for the elections to be held in mid-October.

He added: if the conservative government remains in Poland, then Brussels will have to give way.

The prime minister also spoke about another EU issue: migration.

The migration pact is a step backwards, he said, adding: we are facing a historical process here: we can see different demographic growth on the two sides of the Mediterranean Sea, and now migrants are coming to us from Africa.

Viktor Orbán also said that the EU does not look at the issue from the point of view of the children, but sees it as a legal problem. However

migration entails serious dangers: crime, violence, difficulties in living together.

Until now, we have been able to protect ourselves against migration, but there is no unity in politics on this issue. The Hungarian left, even the left that claims to be right, contributes to decisions in the European Parliament that stimulate migration.

Viktor Orbán said in relation to the migration pact being formed in Brussels that the most painful is not the transition of the Germans, but of the Slovaks.

Slovakia has always stood by the Hungarian and Polish positions. The Slovaks are our neighbors, a sane people, and the Slovaks have always been part of the Polish-Hungarian common position regarding migration.

The fact that they switched to the other side recently is a problem, because they are also part of the migration front line, which can only defend itself well if its members cooperate.

The only way to stop migration is to not let migrants in.

This means that we can only allow people into the territory of our own country who have submitted a prior application.

If we first let the migrants in and then judge whether they can stay, then how will we deport them? asked the prime minister.

He then pointed out that in the area of migration, the biggest problem is in the Sahel region, so the government is ready to participate in the stabilization of the region.

We want to sidestep migration, but not by letting them in, but by sending help to their country of origin - emphasized Viktor Orbán.
