We have to stick together and hold each other strong, we have to give each other strength, because only those communities will be able to survive and strengthen themselves - stressed the President of the Republic Katalin Novák on Saturday in Bácsfeketehegy, where the Bishop of the Reformed Christian Church of Serbia took part at his service.

As he said: difficult times are coming, problems appear with varying intensity, and all this is accompanied by everyday struggles. He reminded that the pandemic ended recently and many people had to leave their homes, destructive ideologies have declared a campaign and are now targeting children, the tension in Kosovo is not decreasing, and the instability in the Western Balkans is not decreasing, war is raging in Ukraine, and war is imminent in the Middle East, as well as economic challenges make the everyday lives of families difficult.

Katalin Novák added: at such times, Christians turn to God for answers and await an answer to where is the limit of violence and terror, what to do if the safety of communities and families is threatened, and how to comply with God's commands in this world . All of these questions can be answered by clinging together. The members of the community must be connected to each other so strongly that it cannot be torn apart, he underlined.

"Just as a mother can hold on to her child, the Motherland can hold on to her child, the Hungarians across the border, because now is the time for the Hungarians to hold on to each other"

stated the president of the republic.

He added: "it is also about this holding together when we count the Hungarians, not only within the territory of Hungary, but also outside the territory of Hungary, even the smallest Hungarian, connecting the Hungarians living inside and outside our borders to each other like an umbilical cord".

The President of the Republic finally touched on the fact that the Hungarians also have the opportunity to maintain friendly relations with another country, Serbia, and this also contributes to the cohesion.

János Nagy, the state secretary who heads the Prime Minister's Office, read Viktor Orbán's greeting letter at the episcopal consecration. The prime minister said: "he who believes can do and fight beyond his strength."

"Few places in the world understand this as you do, in Vojvodina, where for a hundred years the Reformed churches have not only been the houses of faith, but also the strongholds of the Hungarian people. They show direction, provide spiritual support and shelter to the Hungarian community that has withstood many trials, which has now become the foundation of a more beautiful and hopeful future in Vojvodina."

he underlined.

Viktor Orbán called it indicative that "a dedicated pastor and experienced leader was chosen for this task, who trained as a missionary in his teens, and as a pastor, he stood his ground in many tasks from church work to institution management".

Finally, Viktor Orbán wished the newly elected bishop to be blessed with the service he undertook

"not only for the benefit of the Southern Reformeds, but also for the entire Vojvodina Hungarians".

The Prime Minister chants "Soli Deo gloria!" (To God alone be the glory!) he closed his letter with a Latin saying.

László Harangozó, the newly elected and installed bishop of the Serbian Reformed Christian Church, the pastor president of the church Synod, asked the community to pray so that the good wishes expressed at the service become reality, and

"this community, which wants to live, can really live".

At the service, Zoltán Balog, bishop of the Danube Reformed Church District, pastor president of the Synod of the Hungarian Reformed Church, executive president of the General Convention, preached his word.
