In the course of a single week, he went from withdrawing aid to the terror-producing Palestinians to tripling it. Here are the stations of the Union Dance of Death.
A week ago, the terrorist organization Hamas carried out a brutal terrorist attack against Israel, hundreds of Jewish and foreign civilians lost their lives, while the Palestinians slaughtered women, the elderly and babies indiscriminately.
Let's see what Brussels did in the course of a week, how it reacted to this infernal act!
On Monday, October 9, Politico wrote that the EU has suspended funding to the Palestinian Authority. Because it has financed it up to this point, not in any way: the EU supported Palestinian organizations with around 300 million euros last year and promised a total of 1.8 billion euros between 2021 and 2024. This is the amount - in principle! - would have covered, among other things, the salaries of Palestinian Authority civil servants, support for the financing of certain projects, as well as assistance to refugees through a UN agency, as well as the financing of certain non-governmental organizations.
Just one day later, on Tuesday, EU Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borell declared at his evening press conference:
it would be a mistake to freeze the support resources provided to the Palestinian Authority, it would only help the radical Palestinian organization Hamas to strengthen and would worsen relations with the Arab world.
That's good. Although it can hardly seem weak since last Saturday's unprecedented terrorist attack, if we continue to invest money, it will surely weaken. Or isn't that what it means that if we don't make money, it gets stronger?
However, the Israelis welcomed the suspension of the aid the day before, because among other things, the righteous Palestinians prepared textbooks with anti-Semitic content and inciting violence against the Jews. Of course, the Union knows this, as it acknowledges it in one of its reports.
Last summer, the EU transferred 200 million dollars worth of aid to the Palestinian Authority: the European Commission decided to reject the aid temporarily suspended due to the controversial textbooks. The EC's Hungarian commissioner, Olivér Várhelyi, previously suggested that the Palestinian leadership could receive part of the money only if it was proven to modify the controversial passages in the Palestinian textbooks. After the funding was reached, Palestinian officials said that
in the end, the EC did not attach any conditions to the subsidies.
Here is an excerpt from a Palestinian physics textbook: a visual illustration of Newton's law of dynamics.
But the Union is not the only one financing the killing.
The Palestinian Authority spends 7% of its US-funded budget to pay salaries to terrorists in Israeli prisons and to pay pensions to the families of dead terrorists.
These salaries increase with the seriousness of the crimes. The basic salary of stone throwers is 1,400 shekels per month. Terrorists get extra money by killing Jews, and the more Jews they kill, the more money they make. The salaries of terrorists are on average three times the average income of the territories controlled by the Palestinian Authority.
Then out of the blue like a bolt of lightning - or not? - on October 14, the European Commission announced that it would triple the humanitarian aid to Gaza, to more than 75 million euros. According to the statement, Ursula Von der Leyen spoke with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Saturday, and after the call she announced:
the Brussels body will immediately increase the humanitarian aid budget for Gaza by 50 million euros. With this, the total amount of humanitarian aid planned to be provided to Gaza exceeds 75 million euros, it was emphasized in the announcement.
However, the best is yet to come:
Ms von der Leyen also stated that the panel supports Israel's right to defend itself against Hamas terrorists in full respect of international humanitarian law.
Is not it beautiful! He supports his right. However, support presupposes some kind of active action, such as effective aid to the Arabs, a good part of which has been proven to end up in the hands of terrorists. It is not customary to support a right, at most - as in our case - it can be recognized. So Brussels, graciously, recognizes the Jews' right to self-defense, provided they comply with international law.
It is interesting that neither the UN nor the bright-eyed body in Brussels called on the terrorists to do so.
Not to mention that support for the massacred Israelis did not even arise. It is confusing to emphasize that they are indeed the victims here.
In the coming weeks, we will see many photos of the misery of the Gaza Strip, Israel's brutal rocket attacks, dead people, teary-eyed Arab children. The liberal media won't change their ways, even if the world turns upside down.
And the Palestinians were declared victims, and the Jews were declared criminals, regardless of who did or did not do what.
A sane person does not spare humanitarian aid from anyone in need, however, as Gál Kinga also noted, there is a strong suspicion that a large proportion of the 691 million euros in aid provided by Brussels to the Palestinians may have gone to the terrorist organization Hamas. And the majority of current aid is not given to the victims either, we can even take poison for that.
In addition, let's not forget that no one wakes up on a peaceful Saturday morning and sets out to behead and burn babies. Achieving this state of mind requires rock-hard indoctrination from childhood, provided by the Palestinian-Arab community:
let's face it, Gaza is a terrorist rat's nest, since the Israeli withdrawal in 2005, everything and everyone there is controlled and dominated by Hamas.
Hungary does not support the principle of collective guilt - in contrast to the pro-pacifist Western liberals, who see every Russian as Satan himself - and there are obviously people in Gaza who would like to stay out of the fighting. But they can't, and that's solely the responsibility of their own community.
Israel has called on Palestinians to leave northern Gaza, while Hamas has called on them to stay where they are. So it's easy to use their own as living shields and then show off the dead in the media.
And the Western media also shows it, there will be no mistake in that. And the people of Brussels can tick off another case by financing terror, putting themselves on a moral pedestal: we solved that too!
