The Holy Father asks all believers to join the Church living in the Holy Land and dedicate Tuesday, October 17, to prayer and fasting.
In his speech on St. Peter's Square on Sunday, Pope Francis reflected on how important it is to notice and accept God's calls.
He also spoke out for the cessation of armed clashes.
"I continue to follow with great pain what is happening in Israel and Palestine. I constantly think about the many people, especially the little ones and the elderly. I repeat my call for the release of the hostages and I strongly request that children, the sick, the elderly, women and civilians in general do not become victims of the conflict. Humanitarian law should be respected, especially in Gaza, where humanitarian corridors must be urgently secured and assistance provided to the entire population," the Holy Father said.
Pope Francis reminded us that many people have already died.
"I beg you, let no more innocent blood be shed, neither in the Holy Land, nor in Ukraine, nor elsewhere! It was enough! Wars always mean defeat, always!” he pointed out.
The Holy Father announced a day of prayer for October 17 together with the Church of the Holy Land for the sake of peace. He said that prayer is the calm and holy force that can be opposed to the evil forces of hatred, terrorism and war.
