Contrary to previous reports and media frenzy, the attack on the hospital in Gaza, which according to some reports killed 500 civilians, was the result of a jihadist "occupational accident", writes Robert C. Castel, a security policy expert who is fighting in Israel, on social media.
One of the rockets fired at Israeli targets by the terrorist organization Islamic Jihad hit the hospital's parking lot and caused the tragedy.
After investigating the incident, the IDF (Israeli Army) released a screenshot of the Iron Dome's radar, which clearly shows the series of rockets fired at Israel and the malfunctioning attack device that caused the "occupational accident" that crashed into the hospital parking lot.
In addition, the IDF released a recording from the wiretapping of Hamas' internal communications, in which the organization's officials talk about a "work accident" caused by Islamic Jihad.
Israel has provided additional classified information about the incident to the United States and several other Western and Middle Eastern allies.
You can see how common these "work accidents" are on the map below. A significant proportion of the rockets launched by Hamas and Islamic Jihad land on the Gaza side of the border, causing heavy casualties among the local civilian population.
