The protesters want to prevent a church from being built at all costs.
Climate activists are protesting against the construction of a Catholic church in the French department of Ardèche on the grounds that the construction of the facility would result in too much carbon emissions.
The activists gathered at the planned site of the church on Tuesday morning, but the local church members were also prepared, standing in line to defend the construction, reports the French TF1 Info.
A video taken at the scene shows a nun throwing herself at an activist who is trying to stop one of the excavators.
The climate protectionists want to stop the construction on the grounds that there is an endangered, rare plant on the site, which was not taken into account before construction began.
