A significant majority of Hungarian voters (60 percent) are dissatisfied with the shadow government of the Democratic Coalition (DK), in their opinion, Ferenc Gyurcsány's political formation has performed poorly in the past year. This "devastating opinion" is only confirmed by the fact that almost two-thirds of those surveyed (64 percent) believe that the shadow government is nothing more than a communication trick, according to the current, nationally representative opinion poll of the Center for Fundamental Rights, the details of which were published on Tuesday by MTI -with.
In the research - which was conducted by interviewing a thousand people by telephone between October 9 and 13 - it was written that Ferenc Gyurcsány's party, the DK, celebrated its 12th anniversary over the weekend, which created its own "brand", the shadow government, the original purpose of which was a year ago was the creation of a coherent government program.
"With the shadow government, which is of only moderate interest to the left-wing public discourse, Ferenc Gyurcsány's party went so far as to hold shadow government information on the model of real government information, roughly every two weeks," they wrote.
It was emphasized that the initial impetus was quickly drowned in disinterest, and after a year, the majority of Hungarians (60 percent) are not only dissatisfied with the formation's activities, but almost two-thirds (64 percent) consider it to be a political advertising product and a communication trick.
The fact that even a third of the voters of the opposition alliance and 58 percent of the young people (18-29 years old) who are declared to be critics of the system believe that the political brand of the DK has performed poorly is considered a strong feedback for the DK.
According to the center, the failure to address those who identified themselves as center voters only adds to the ineffectiveness, as 58 percent of them thought of the formation as a communication trick.
"Although in the light of the numbers, the shadow government is a particularly apt name, since the Democratic Coalition overshadowed the left; it is true, beyond that, it did not bring political popularity or governing ability to the opposition. The essence of the shadow minister's positions should have been to make the party program clear, but while the DK followed suit with the tool of social demagoguery (just remember, Viktor Orbán will raise prices, Klára Dobrev will raise wages as a slogan), while Zoltán Bodnár, shadow minister the finance minister just voted against raising the minimum wage and in favor of austerity - and the contradictory statements left the real goals in the dark," they wrote.
They continued that a workable alternative would require political expertise, representation of national interests, clear finances and credibility, not international networks, "rolling dollars", vague explanations and communication tricks.
"The austerity-based neoliberal policy of the Gyurcsány governments has made the opposition unpopular and discredited to this day. Despite all foreign help, it seems that without the support of the Hungarian voters, the shadow government of the Democratic Coalition will continue to remain in the shadows," the survey states .
