The actor was found dead in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home, police said. A CNN source said Perry's death is being investigated. The newspaper also writes that the actor's death was probably caused by suffocation.
Authorities went to Perry around 4:00 p.m. local time. Los Angeles Times sources, no drugs were found in the actor's environment,
"There was no foul play," the police source added.
Jóbarátok ran for ten seasons from 1994 to 2004. Warner Bros. Television Group, which produces the series, released a statement saying:
We are devastated by the death of our beloved friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly talented actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. television family. The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world and his legacy lives on in the hearts of many. It's a heartbreaking day.
Matthew Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Perry moved to Ottawa with his mother when he was young, and after his parents divorced, he commuted between the Canadian city and Los Angeles - where his father lived. He attended a school in Ottawa with the current Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau.
Before fame
As a child, Matthew Perry became one of the best tennis players in Canada and for a long time it seemed that this would be his life's career, but Perry was interested in acting from a very young age. His father, John Bennett Perry, also had this profession - later in his biography, the Good Friends star also mentioned that his father started a great rivalry with him when he became so successful so suddenly.
Before his role in the world-famous series, he played in several smaller series. His first registered role is known from 1979 in the drama 240-Robert. She had further series roles in the 1980s, but none of them stayed on the screen for very long due to low ratings.
He also played in films, but he only got a really big role after Friends - his most famous film role was played alongside Bruce Willis in The Assassin's Creed.
Friends and Chandler Bing
In 1994, the world famous Friends series started, in which Matthew Perry played the role of Chandler Bing. Bing's character has become a favorite of many, with his snappy jokes and originality. Matthew Perry has said it several times, as well as written it in his biography, that he almost didn't feel like playing the role of Chandler Bing, because his personality matched his character in many ways.
Perry's parents were also divorced, and he suffered from a lack of love throughout his life and used humor as a defense mechanism.
In Jóbarátok, he became extremely close to his co-stars (Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc) - they became best friends in real life and, besides, they became the six highest-paid television stars of the 1990s.
When the tenth and final season aired in 2004, Perry said,
I was 24 when I got the role and I couldn't believe it. I'm going to be 34 now and I can't believe it's over. This is a crucial decade in a person's life, and I feel that it has become significant for me many times over
