According to security policy expert Bálint Somkuti, the Western press has also switched over to a completely false propaganda machine.

A Ukrainian colonel may have played a central role in blowing up the Nord Stream, at least this is what Ukrainian and European officials and other people familiar with the details of the secret operation say, according to a joint article by The Washington Post Spiegel

Elon Musk also reacted to the news, the billionaire businessman summed up his opinion in just one, but all the more telling, word: "Interesting".

According to some interpretations (e.g. telexes) that question both the competence and responsibility of the Ukrainian leadership, the action could even have taken place "behind the back" of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

Expert: Clear evidence would be needed

In connection with the press reports, our paper turned to security policy expert Bálint Somkuti, who, in response to our question, suggested caution:

the attack could have been carried out by anyone and "until we see clear evidence, everything is just speculation".

The expert underlined that by clear evidence he does not mean "information leaking through the press, but actually clear evidence that shows the processes in detail".

Bálint Somkuti pointed out that the Andromeda ship, previously mentioned in the "investigative material" by Spiegel and ZDF, used to blow up the pipeline, also revealed that the story of the pipeline being blown up with a rented boat was "clearly a fabrication".

"A complicated dive of this type requires auxiliary personnel, equipment, and tools, which together with six people would not have fit on the small boat that was presented"

he explained. In other words, according to the expert, "even the basic story and the evidence presented are quite suspicious about the Ukrainian attack."

"Why is this information being leaked now and in this way?"

Answering our question, Bálint Somkuti said: "with these partial leaks, it is more likely to see that

the Western leadership has started shifting the blame to Ukraine, which is simply stomach-churning. If it really happened as they say, then present all the details.”

According to the expert, this is only to be expected because "the American secret services and military advisers are there in Ukraine, so if this had happened as they say, then they already had/should have had detailed information about it."

"Why is this information being leaked now and in this way?" he raised. "It cannot be ruled out that it was the Ukrainians, but the way they leak the information increasingly points to the fact that they want to put pressure on the Ukrainian leadership from the West."

Can such a serious action take place behind the back of the Ukrainian leadership?

To our question, if the Ukrainians blew up the Nord Stream, could this possibly have happened without the knowledge of the Ukrainian leadership, the security policy expert said: "the state where such a weighty decision - which must be preceded by very serious planning - is not informed the soldiers are the political leadership, that state is a failed state, or a state on the verge of disintegration, moving towards defeat in war. And in Ukraine, a year and a half ago, this was not the case in any respect," Bálint Somkuti assessed to our newspaper.

"I consider it impossible that the Ukrainian military leadership would have made a very serious decision with international consequences without informing the Ukrainian political leadership. This news is at least as big a lie as the misinformation appearing in the Russian press," underlined the security policy expert.

"This is clear, Western disinformation.

The Western press has also switched over to a completely lying propaganda machine. With these leaks, Zelenskyi clearly wants to put pressure on the Ukrainian president"

- assessed Bálint Somkuti, security policy expert.
