The Transylvanian Hungarian National Council (EMNT) is far from any kind of revisionism, instead it demands territorial rights and limited community self-determination with respect for national borders - László Tőkés, the organization's president, pointed out at the Cluj-Napoca ceremony on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the EMNT.

According to the press release of the EMNT press office on Sunday, László Tőkés explained: since, unlike the Romanians, Transylvanian Hungarians were not allowed to decide on their state affiliation based on the Wilsonian self-determination, the EMNT, which was established two decades ago, undertook to heal the wounds of Trianon by achieving the internal self-determination of the Transylvanian Hungarian national community .

"For us, autonomy is a matter of life, a guarantee of our national survival, a guarantee of our community and human rights, an element of our hoped-for future (...) I don't want to spoil the party, but I have to say that we still have a long way to go before we arrive from oppression to freedom, from Romania to Utopia" – quoted László Tőkés in the EMNT announcement.

According to the announcement, Zsolt Németh, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament, also welcomed the autonomy movement, which was established twenty years ago, who says that the continuation of the Romanian-Hungarian dialogue initiated by the EMNT is necessary.

"The fundamental interests of Romanians and Hungarians coincide: hybrid warfare must be prevented so that people cannot be pitted against each other and thereby destabilize the region. Romania and Hungary are two allied countries, so I recommend to our Romanian friends to try to avoid any measures that might cause resentment. In relation to the public administration reform, this can be achieved in two ways: either postpone this reform, or start negotiations with the Transylvanian Hungarians so that everyone can be satisfied with the reorganization. On the part of Hungary, we are ready to support such a dialogue with all means," the statement quoted the Fidesz politician as saying.

Zsolt Németh, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament, and László Dávid, chairman of the Senate of the Sapientia Transylvanian Hungarian University, were honored with the Károly Kós Award, founded by EMNT, at the anniversary ceremony held on Saturday at the House of Religious Freedom in Cluj.

Zsolt Németh received the recognition for his work in the field of national unification across borders, consistent support of community autonomy aspirations and the completion of Hungarian-Hungarian and Hungarian-Romanian dialogue, while former rector László Dávid received the recognition for his work as an institution founder and graduate in the field of Hungarian-language higher education and scientific life in Transylvania. received the award for his value-creating work and for his role in community and cultural organization.

The festive event ended with a round table discussion analyzing some of the most important political and public events of the last 20 years. with the participation of its former executive.
