The president of VMSZ is satisfied with the result achieved in Sunday's Serbian elections, where Viktor Orbán's ally also won an overwhelming majority.
We won at least as many votes and mandates as in the previous election, which means that we have achieved our election goals, so I can say that the Hungarian Association of Vojvodina won - stressed Bálint Pásztor, acting president of the Hungarian Association of Vojvodina, commenting on the results of the elections.
He emphasized: the party's goal was to keep its independent representative group in the Belgrade parliament (which requires five representatives), and according to all preliminary results, it achieved this goal.
He pointed out that the VMSZ was able to maintain its strength even after a difficult period, after the death of the party chairman, István Pásztor. As he said, many people expected that the party would crumble after such a tragedy, but this did not happen, the party remained united and strong, the Vojvodina Hungarians supported the party.
In Serbia, in addition to the early parliamentary elections, Vojvodina provincial elections were also held.
VMSZ has the third largest representative group in the Vojvodina province, ahead of several Serbian parties. The Hungarian Association of Vojvodina was preceded only by the list of the Serbian Progressive Party and the opposition list called Serbia Against Violence.
Bálint Pásztor thanked the Hungarian government and Fidesz for the support they provided to VMSZ during the campaign. The acting party chairman also thanked the supporters and activists for the fact that the VMSZ was able to maintain its political strength with their help.
The Vojvodina Hungarian Association has been a member of the government coalition since 2014, and expects to continue to play such a role in the coming period. He wants to participate in government work at the level of state secretary.
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced at his press conference late on Sunday that the Serbian Progressive Party won the national, provincial and local government elections in Belgrade, although it was only a hair's breadth ahead of the opposition coalition in the capital.
According to the head of state, in Belgrade, a list of non-party members, A nép one voice, can be the language of the balance sheet. However, the leader of the latter group stated that he did not wish to support either side.
Viktor Orbán congratulated the Serbian head of state on his election victory on X:
#Serbia will not stop! Congratulations to President @avucic and members of his list on their overwhelming election victory!

In Serbia, the access of national minority parties to parliament does not depend on reaching the three percent threshold: the natural election threshold is used, which means that as many minority representatives can enter parliament as many times as a national minority party obtains the number of votes necessary for one mandate without should be worth 3 percent. When determining the natural threshold, a multiplier of 1.35 is used for votes cast for minority parties. According to expectations, six representatives of the Vojvodina Hungarian Association, three politicians of the Bosnian-Croat alliance, two additional Bosniaks, two Albanians and one Russian minority representative will enter the parliament.
The election committee will announce its preliminary results on Monday evening, and if there is no need to repeat the voting anywhere, it will announce the final results by Thursday evening.
