The guarantee arrived from Brussels.
On Wednesday, Hungary received the written guarantee that it was expecting from the European Commission, so teachers, kindergarten teachers, as well as - from national sources - vocational training instructors can be sure that their wages will increase by 32.2 percent from January 1, said the head of the Prime Minister's Office minister.
Gergely Gulyás emphasized: all this will be followed by a significant wage increase next year as well.
He reminded: Hungary undertook to raise teachers' salaries to 80 percent of the average graduate salary, in two stages.
This year, we will reach 71.8 percent, and next year, with a further increase of about 21 percent, 80 percent of the average graduate salary, and we will maintain this after that, he said.
Gergely Gulyás said that the amount included in the operative program is available, i.e. 530 million euros will be received from the European Commission for this year.
What Brussels contributes to the wage increase is a total of 12 percent of the wage increase, calculated until 2030.
We receive this amount from the EU funds belonging to Hungary, and the remaining 88 percent is provided by the national budget, said Gulyás, adding that the funds from the European Commission will be a significant help this year and next year.
The wage increase that has just been implemented affects a total of about 140,000 people.
