American civilization has been turned upside down, and soon Americans will encounter things that were once unimaginable.

We, who were born when bombs were still falling on Budapest, lived through several eras, starting with the fact that Comrade Rákosi leads us to a happy homeland, then we had our share in revolution, retaliation, goulash communism and finally in regime change and the benefits of the European Union.

For a long time, we thought of the United States as a miracle, the home of democracy, when in our country you had to think twice about what you say with your mouth (remember: I have an opinion, comrades, but I agree with it). We admired the American standard of living when we couldn't even get toilet paper, we admired Hollywood films when the Ulyanov family was shown here (but we had domestic films with excellent actors that can still be watched today). We looked at landing a man on the moon as a wonderful feat, while after the initial successes, the great Soviet Union fell behind in this area as well.

For us, the United States was the promised land, we wanted the freedom that was there, we wanted to live like the Americans.

The United States is still the leading power in the world today, not only in terms of its military power, but also in terms of living standards, technical leadership and its role in culture, yet something has gone wrong in America, and it is not us who say this, but the Americans themselves, who want the light of America maintain as we once admired it.

Victor Davis Hanson, professor emeritus of California State University, classical philologist, military historian and political commentator, writes about this. Hanson writes commentaries on contemporary politics and ancient warfare in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Review, The Washington Times and other media.

article on American Greatness, a new website for American conservatism aimed at the youth , titled "American Culture Is Collapsing," obviously intended to shake up the next generation if they want to live like their grandfathers and maybe even more. their fathers, then the current processes must be changed.

Hanson begins his article by noting that the past six months have witnessed a number of iconic moments that demonstrate the collapse of American culture. The signs are everywhere and cover the fields of politics, economy, education, social life, popular culture, foreign policy and national defense.

Decline is not caused by foreign attack or intrigue, not by poverty and deprivation, but by leisure and excess.

You can see fault lines the likes of which America has not seen since the Civil War. The radical left obviously feels it needs such chaos, anarchy and nihilism to overturn past norms and customs and initiate programs that in normal times no one would stomach.

America is close to financial collapse.

While interest rates hovered around zero, both parties accumulated enormous debt. By now, the national debt has reached 34 trillion dollars (123 percent of GDP). But interest rates have jumped from zero to 5-6 percent, which means that interest on the national debt will account for 20% of the annual budget in the not-too-distant future, crowding out all other spending from social care to defense spending. At the same time, the left demands even higher federal taxes, which together with many state taxes already exceed 50 percent of incomes.

There is public confusion about why the Biden administration fled Afghanistan and left billions of dollars in ammunition and equipment in the hands of Taliban terrorists. Why has the Pentagon revolutionized the entire system of recruitment, promotion, and seniority in the armed forces by basing them largely on race, gender, and sexual orientation, rather than merit or battlefield effectiveness? Who were the people who convinced us that racially segregated colleges or racially segregated college admissions were not racist?

When did we lump an entire group of people of different backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, politics, classes, and values under one hat and call them all "white" and then collectively smear them in a stereotypical way? Would anyone have thought, say in 2004, that in less than twenty years the left would try to make the previously rare medical disease, gender dysphoria, a transgender civil rights issue by insisting on three genders instead of two? Would anyone have believed that leftists, gays, and feminists would do everything they could to destroy half a century of women's athletic achievements by allowing biological males to compete in women's sports, erasing three generations of women's records? We are witnessing the continuous erasure of jurisprudence, both in the field of civil and criminal law.

Does the law as we knew it a decade ago still exist?

Hanson asks himself and his readers in a series of questions

Hanson points out that mass looting in major cities in Democratic-dominated states now goes largely unpunished. In these cities, the prosecutors supported by George-Soros have almost completely destroyed civil society. They systematically release violent criminals the same day they are arrested and sabotage the law with arbitrary enforcement on the grounds that it is inherently unjust or racist.

In ancient times, the president of the Harvard Corporation was a distinguished scholar and intellectual, worthy of Harvard's own self-esteem as the world's pre-eminent university. This is no longer the case. The meteoric career of the now-resigned president, Claudine Gay, was based on the wretched data of only 11 articles, most of them plagiarized. His whole career has been fueled by the idea that the privileged Gay somehow deserves special respect because of his race and gender.

How in less than five years it was possible to destroy meritocracy (recognition based on merit), abolish qualification requirements, require an oath to "Diversity, Equality and Inclusion" in American elite universities, which is a mirror image of the Soviet Union and the countries of the old Warsaw Pact commissioner's institutions?

How and why these elite universities blew themselves up in a decade will baffle historians for decades to come.

The Biden administration dismantled federal immigration law, as some 10 million illegal immigrants crossed illegally and with impunity during the Biden era. In addition, all this was done on purpose, the southern border is not only porous, it no longer even exists.

Victor Davis Hanson concludes his article by saying that American civilization has been turned upside down, and soon Americans will encounter things that were once unimaginable.

What can be added to this circle? That everyone should do everything in their place and according to their talents to stop this trend. This year there will be elections in many places where we can achieve results, but we must know that this fight will not be the last.
