No one expected such a smooth match.

The Hungarian men's handball team reached the semi-finals of the European Olympic qualification championship undefeated, with the maximum two points, as it defeated Iceland 33-25 in the last round of the group stage in Munich on Tuesday.

Kristóf Palasics, who was chosen as the best in the field, contributed to a more confident success than expected with 11 saves, Egon Hanusz and Zoltán Szita five, Imre Bence, Gábor Ancsin and Gergő Fazekas four each.

The Hungarians won 26-24 against Montenegro on Friday and 28-27 against Serbia on Sunday, so this is their first continental tournament when they advanced from the group stage with three successes. They will continue their participation on Thursday in the first round of the semi-final group in Cologne.
