Not only will the Budapest pass remain, but in principle it will be even cheaper from March 1!
Minister of Construction and Transport János Lázár and Mayor Gergely Karácsony announced on Monday that after March 1, both county and national passes, as well as the Budapest pass, will be accepted at all public transport providers within the capital. The mayor announced on Tuesday morning that the price of monthly Budapest passes will be reduced and will cost HUF 8,950 instead of HUF 9,500.
BKK already indicated on its social media page on Monday evening that not only will the Budapest pass remain, but in principle it will be even cheaper from March 1. They added that the pass will continue to be valid throughout the capital on HÉVs, "blue Volánbusz" and designated MÁV trains.
The price reduction is believed to have economic reasons, as the county pass currently costs HUF 9,450 and offers many more services than the Budapest pass.
With the new pass system, Budapest residents and those coming to Budapest can travel cheaper. But the people of Budapest do doubly well. With the simpler and cheaper ticket purchase, more people from the agglomeration will choose public transport instead of the car
- announced the mayor, who did not mention that the price of the student pass would also change. For students, the monthly county pass costs HUF 945, and the national pass costs HUF 1,890, while BKK transports students for HUF 3,450.
Monday's agreement was made possible by the fact that János Lázár turned to the capital management with the offer to continue accepting Budapest passes on MÁV-Volán flights to Budapest, if you can also travel on BKK flights with county and country passes.
