The already exceptionally strict Hungarian child protection legal system at the European level will be further strengthened, said the senior analyst of the Fundamental Rights Center on the M1 channel on Thursday evening, in response to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's submission of a constitutional amendment proposal on behalf of the government, which makes it impossible for crimes committed against minors in the case of a crime, the perpetrator may be pardoned.
Levente Szikra stated that it is a very important amendment proposal; in cases where any crime is committed against minors, the perpetrators will be excluded from the possibility of presidential pardon.
The Hungarian right wing and the right-wing government have long had a consistent stance of child protection policy and pro-family support - the analyst pointed out, adding that child protection passages have already been included in the Basic Law, such as the right to self-identify according to the child's birth gender or "the father is a man, the mother is a woman". clause, and the Child Protection Act also contains important rules.
Therefore, the current proposal fits into a consistent policy - stated Levente Szikra. He said that in the child protection referendum, the large majority stood up for the child protection policy. This proposal is also in line with the will of the public, as they expect a very strict child protection system from the Hungarian legal system - emphasized the analyst.
He said: with the amendment, those who commit crimes against children will find themselves in a much more difficult situation, as one of the options for escape from the consequences of criminal law will be removed. Even today, the Hungarian legal system is particularly strict against pedophile criminals, but it is also an aggravating circumstance in the case of other crimes, if they are committed to harm minors, Levente Szikra added.

According to the analyst, the amendment can be passed by the Parliament at the beginning of the spring session, in the coming weeks.
