This is what happens to someone who attacks a police officer: András Fekete-Győr was found guilty by the Capital District Court and sentenced to one year in prison.

On Monday morning, two representatives of Momentum, Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány and András Fekete-Győr, had to appear in court again for attacking the police during the demonstrations against the overtime law in December 2018, according to the prosecution.

According to them, Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány lit a pyrotechnic device during the event, which - after it stopped sparking and only emitted smoke - he threw it at the police officers securing parliament The next day, the first- order defendant - this time in the company of the second- order accused, András Fekete-Győr - appeared again at a demonstration in Kossuth Square, when both of them lit pyrotechnic devices, and after they emitted only smoke, the first- order defendant did more, while the second the accused threw one towards the police.

At the Capital Court, they first had to state their personal circumstances, and then the prosecution presented the appeal. It is known that the two politicians were acquitted of the charges in the first instance verdict by the judge, but the prosecution appealed for the aggravation.

At the time, the two defendants stated that they were satisfied with the verdict, but expected this step from the prosecution.

The representative of the prosecution requested that Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány and András Fekete-Győr be declared guilty of the crime of gang violence against an official by the court and that they be sentenced to suspended prison terms. After the speech of the defenders, the two defendants had the right to have the last word, Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány was the first to say that he had not harmed anyone and that he had no intention of doing so. András Fekete-Győr agreed with what was said and added that he was only exercising his freedom of expression when he participated in the demonstration.

Judge Ferenc Lévárdi presented the second-instance verdict of the Capital Court, which changed the decision of the first-instance court.

According to the verdict, both defendants are guilty of the crime of violence against an official.

András Fekete-Győr was sentenced to one year in prison, but this was suspended by the council for two years of probation. In the case of Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány, the court changed the legal classification against the first instance order, thus the suspended prison sentence remained.

The verdict is not final, the prosecutor's office asked for three days to think about the decision. Bendegúz Szarvas Koppány also asked for time to think, while András Fekete-Győr appealed against the decision together with his lawyer, so the case continues at the court.
