Major Imre was only 48 years old.
The official social media page of the city of Hajdúböszörmény reported the tragic news that its Oscar-winning resident, Imre Major, died at the tragically young age of 48.
The software development specialist and his colleague Csaba Kőhegyi from Hungary created the 3D program called Mudbox, which was a huge step forward for film graphic designers in the production of animated films.
The development was used in movies such as Lord of the Rings, Life of Pi, Harry Potter, Avatar or King Kong.
As is well known, Tibor Madjar, Csaba Kőhegyi and the now deceased Imre Major were among the winners of the 2013 technical Oscar. Their development, the aforementioned 3D modeling software, is still widely used in Hollywood today.
