After a gap of several years, the Felvidék Face beauty contest is being held again. The organizers are looking for a young girl for the queen who can identify with the public life challenges of the Hungarians in the highlands and who can be a role model for the self-assured young generation.
The Felvidék Face beauty pageant last chose a queen in 2019. Then Bankó Barbara from Dunaszerdahely became the most beautiful of the girls from the highlands. In 2020, the selection was still held, but due to the coronavirus epidemic, the beauty camp and the final did not take place.
We had to face the fact that there has practically been a generational change since the last race. Today, completely different points of view prevail among young girls. For us, the organization is now as if we had to start from completely new foundations. We didn't buy a license for any world competition, which is why we can search more freely and without restrictions for the real queen of the Highlands"
Annamária Kiss Kósa, chief organizer, begins our conversation. The founder of the fashion brand KokaFashion, together with his co-organizers, the beauty queen Andrea Barthalos and the owner of the Hestia business, József Kovács, founded the Value Workshop civic association, under whose auspices the organization takes place.
Girls are still waiting for applications for this season's Felvidék Face beauty contest. The first selection meeting will take place on Friday, February 23, at three o'clock in the afternoon in the halls of the Europa hotel in Komárom.
You can register freely, applications from ladies who have not yet registered will also be accepted on site. According to Annamária Kósa Kiss, the fact that the organizing team is mostly made up of women gives more confidence to the parents and the girls, for them the organization of this competition is a commitment, they believe that the beauty and fashion sectors can also be put at the service of community affairs in the highlands.
"We are specifically looking for the Queen of the Highlands, no other worldview or national need has to meet our daughter. The point is that there should be a pretty lady who can and dares to be a role model, to identify with her Hungarianness and the issues of public life in the highlands.
We want to lead the younger generation to dare to take on their mother tongue and their Hungarianness. Last but not least, the finalist girls are also connected to the entrepreneurial sector in the highlands, which opens up many opportunities in the world of work. We want to provide a space for those girls who might not dare to apply for a Slovak beauty pageant due to language barriers"
Annamária explained.
The professional jury will rank 10-12 girls among the finalists at the selection, they will also participate in the beauty camp and photo shoots. There will be stage walking lessons, probably clothing and jewelry photo shoots as well.
The final will take place in Gúta, and the mayor of the city will also be present in the selection commission to gain experience.
The beauty queen and her ladies-in-waiting will receive the crowns of the Face of the Highlands and her ladies-in-waiting, these traveling crowns have already been returned by the organizers from the previous winners. The "status" of the crown binds the queen for one year, the girls sign a one-year contract with the organizers, who during this time help them establish themselves even in the modeling world, or offer the girls hostess jobs.
Annamária Kiss Kósa revealed that it is very difficult to get support for this kind of movement, even though modeling, beautiful marketing and hostess service are also part of entrepreneurial life. Creative and effective support proposals are welcome.
