The Újpest MSZP president involved in the sexual harassment scandal was promised a deputy mayor's seat, and the case was covered up for half a year.
Belán Beatrix, head of the Újpest municipal cultural company and president of the local MSZP, resigned from her position with immediate effect and even left the MSZP. Behind the resignation is a shocking announcement, which revealed that "sexually ambiguous" behavior towards a minor may have taken place at a summer camp organized by the Újpest Cultural Center Nonprofit Kft.
The fact that all this was made public only half a year later is particularly interesting in the light of the fact that, according to press reports, Norbert Trippon also offered the seat of deputy mayor to Belán, who fell because of the scandal, during the preparations for the municipal elections.
It seems that the parents of Újpest can no longer keep their children safe in a municipal summer camp,
since a child could become a victim of sexual harassment for half a year without consequences, investigations and fair information.
All of this was revealed more than half a year later, in a statement, which still narrowly revealed that "sexually ambiguous" behavior towards a minor may have taken place at the summer camp organized by the Újpest Cultural Center Nonprofit Kft.
The question arises as to why the Deputy Mayor Norbert Trippon, who manages the district from the shadows, who promotes himself on his social media page as being informed about the cutting of the last blade of grass in Újpest, and the Mayor Tibor Déri, who nominally leads the district, remained silent for half a year in a case of such seriousness. The announcement does not help in understanding this either, because they do not mention why the scandal broke out just now.
In addition, according to Origo's information, this is not the first child molestation scandal in the district in a short time, since a year ago in the Aranyhíd Children's Transitional Home, a child told the security guard that two minor boys had sexually abused a 5-year-old girl. .
In connection with the case at that time, all signs indicated that the manager of the home and the city managers who maintained it tried to sweep the matter under the carpet.
The current case also sat in the drawer for half a year before the skeleton fell out of the closet. Norbert Trippon, the opposition's mayoral candidate in Újpest, may have lost one of his potential deputy mayors, because in the interest of keeping the diverse team together, he began handing out deputy mayor positions without a collar, according to our information, Belán Beatrix could have been one of the beneficiaries of this.
Trippon and the head of the institution involved in the scandal have an old, good relationship, since before 2010 they were deputy mayors together during the mayorship of Tamás Derce.
So far, neither the mayor, Tibor Déri, nor Norbert Trippon, who aspires to lead the district and offered the deputy mayor's seat to the failed institution manager - presumably after the scandalous incident - has not appeared in public. So the question arises, why was the head of the institution able to remain in office for half a year after the scandal, and why were the Újpest parents not informed about the scandalous incident?
