What was Alex Soros looking for at the Ukrainian summit in Tirana?
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tried to gain Balkan support for the Ukrainian cause at a two-day summit of Southeast European countries in Tirana on Wednesday, promoting the idea of joint arms production. However, there was an unusual guest at the summit: Alex Soros and several of his colleagues sat behind the Albanian Prime Minister, Albanian Sot News reported.
Since 2013, Albania has been governed by the leftist Edi Rama, who is a close associate of György Soros and Alex Soros, according to the article of the European Center for Law and Justice.
As they write: Soros and Edi Rama meet regularly and call each other "brothers".
Between 1992 and 2020, the Open Society Foundations of György Soros and Alex Soros invested more than 131 million dollars in Albania and supported Edi Rama's rise to power and then his government.
The influence of the OSF in Albania grew so much that Ilir Meta, the former president of Albania, accused György Soros of trying to take over the state.
The influence of the Soros foundations is therefore significant in Albania, which is how Alex Soros was able to attend the summit.
The Albanian opposition freaked out over Soros' presence. Ilda Zhulali, adviser to two former Albanian presidents, commented on Soros's appearance as follows, according to Sot News: "Due to protocol, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense should have stood behind the Prime Minister, but instead we saw the Minister of the Interior and Alex Soros, as well as two other associates of Soros. This is completely abnormal,” Zhulali stated.
