It is not yet clear what ulterior motives a Ukrainian driver had for trying to smuggle live ammunition and detonators for grenades into Transcarpathia.
According to the information from the Ukrainian authorities, the Lada passenger car was stopped by the police at the checkpoint in Lower Verecki.
During the search of the car, they found half a hundred cartridges for automatic machine guns and detonators for hand grenades.
According to the terse police information, it is not impossible that the driver was preparing for some kind of provocation in a region still untouched by the storm of war and inhabited by Hungarians.
