The Russian politician stepped in with the Romanians and made it obvious that they would not return Romania's treasure.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy president of the Russian Security Council, reacted violently to the decision of the EU to ask Russia to return to Romania the gold that was transported there during 1916-1917. In this regard, he stated that Romanian is not even a nation , and this request is impudent, reports Romaniajournal.ro.

Romanians, as is known, are not a nation, but a way of life

Medvedev wrote in his post published on his Vkontakte page.

According to the former Russian president, the Soviet government nationalized Romania's treasury in 1918 because of Romania's "wrong behavior".

Romania agreed to this and then received an amnesty from us for the Nazi period during World War II. Well, now the appetites of the various idiots in the European Parliament have been whetted again

- he continued.

Medvedev added that he did not know how to respond to such "impertinence". The EU stole three hundred billion dollars in assets from Russia and demands that we return the gold to Romania , Medvedev also noted, referring to Russian assets frozen by the EU bloc.

After the European Parliament voted unanimously on Thursday to demand that Russia return Romania's treasure, Russia claims that Romania is actually the debtor.

The decision of the European Parliament the other day recognizes Romania's right to recover the treasure they believe was stolen by Moscow, or to receive compensation in exchange for it.

Demanding the return of its treasury, Romania wants to solve its economic problems at the expense of Russia

- wrote the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Marija Zakharova, on Telegram.

Romania is trying to put its centuries-old debts on Russia's shoulders to improve the disastrous state of its national economy, Zaharova added.

He claimed that Romania's debts to Russia and the Soviet Union were "according to expert calculations" 20-25 times the entire Romanian treasury that was handed over to Russia for safekeeping in 1916-1917.
