In 1994, the world-famous pop icon donated money at his concert in Budapest so that a four-year-old, seriously ill Hungarian boy at the time could get a new liver, which saved his life.
The pictures taken 30 years ago went around the world, and everyone was talking about them at the time. Béla Farkas was only 4 years old and was being treated for liver failure at the Bethesda Children's Hospital in Budapest when the king of pop visited Hungary in 1994. The little boy was only given a few days by his doctors when Michael Jackson appeared.
The singer appeared at the hospital with his wife at the time, Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and they saved the boy's life.
Since then, Béla has become an adult, in fact, he is now called Tamás. The crew of TV2 Tények Plusz found the man in Misk, Bács-Kiskun county, who will be forever grateful to the king of pop.
This happened because my parents adopted me after the operation, and they chose my name - said Tamás Farkas, known to the country as Béla Farkas.
The now grown-up man said that his biological parents left him in the hospital when it became clear how seriously ill he was: he had virtually no chance of recovery, as he would have needed an immediate liver transplant, which has not yet been performed in our country.
But Michael Jackson became the boy's patron.
Tamás didn't know anything about this at the age of 4, but now he is perfectly aware of who helped him when he needed it the most. The little boy underwent life-saving surgery the next day in Brussels, but his body only accepted the new liver for the third time.
It turned out that Tamás lived in a hotel apartment with the famous singer after the operation, but he was only told this, because he does not remember this. The young man also showed his scar in front of the cameras, but after the successful operation he became a resident of the hospital because his parents abandoned him.
"As far as I know, I cost him 50 million dollars," said Tamás Farkas, who says that the exact amount will never be revealed.
The man said that although he was asked many times why he was the one who fell in love with Michael Jackson, he didn't know the answer either.
To this day, I would still ask him why he chose me - added Tamás, who learned from his doctor that many people wanted to adopt him because they knew that Michael Jackson was his well-wisher and hoped that they could get money through him.
The man worked for a long time as an assistant on construction sites, and is currently an assistant nurse in a home for the elderly in Kalocsa. He and his wife and children already have their own house.
"We're starting to recover a little... We're not in someone else's property, but ours," she said, adding that she wanted to go to Jacko's funeral, but she couldn't, but she used to light a candle in his memory.
By the way, the villagers often call the father of two children "Jackson Tamás". Tamás Farkas also said in the report that he considers the world-famous singer to be his real father, to whom he owes his life.
