Although the first name Márta means mistress, none of the European monarchs ever wore it, and it was not popular among aristocrats either, revealed linguist Ádám Pölcz in the public media show Névzygyet. According to legend, the first bearer of the name, which also appears in the Bible, cared for the sick and the poor in the city of Aix. The Kossuth and Ferenc Liszt prize-winning folk singer Márta Sebestyén spoke as a guest on the show about whether active care is characteristic of her, as the patron saint of housewives, families and widows.
"The name Márta means mistress, noble woman. To me, this does not suggest that you should behave with a raised nose and haughty, but that I should be noble in my character. I like it when someone has a noble heart, cares for others, is elegant, polite and elevated," began the entertainer in the Névzygéty broadcast on Duna and M5.
He added that once during one of his appearances in Spain, he received a gift board in Spanish explaining the meaning of his name. "I was surprised when I first saw in the characterization that she was a strong woman. Although I don't want to wear the pants at all costs, I stubbornly represent what I want in my own way. I always stand by my opinion and my principles," emphasized Márta Sebestyén.
