Can we hope? Kristóf Milák returned to competition with an excellent time result on Tuesday's opening day of the 126th national swimming championship, where Katinka Hosszú also jumped into the pool again.

Hosszú, a three-time gold medalist in Rio in 2016, was the first of the two Olympic champions to present himself. The 34-year-old competitor, whose goal is to attend his sixth Olympics in Paris, won his race in the 200-meter medley with 2:16.58 minutes, making him the first place overall in the finals. Before that, the public could see her last at the 2022 European Championships in Rome, now she is back as a mother.

Milák, who won a gold medal in the 200-meter butterfly in Tokyo, entered the national championship in six numbers, and was the first to start in the 100-meter sprint. The 24-year-old swimmer of the Honvéd won his preliminary race with an excellent result of 49.02 seconds - this is not far behind the Olympic level time (48.34) - and surpassed the only Hungarian world championship medalist in the history of the event, Nándor Németh (49.10), who finished third in Doha in February. Milák last competed a year ago, at the national championship in Kaposvár.

The finals will be broadcast live by Duna World from 5 p.m.
