This week, the European Parliament will vote on whether abortion can be made a fundamental right in the European Union. The entire EU is extremely divided on the issue, but the abortion lobby is in the majority in the parliament, reports the V4na.com news agency.
Members of the European Parliament will soon vote on enshrining the right to abortion in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union. Speaking to the wPolityce portal, Izabela Kloc, a member of the European Parliament of the Polish Law and Justice (PiS) party, warned that supporters of unrestricted access to abortion will try to maximize their current advantage in the upcoming plenary session. As the representative pointed out, Brussels is trying to limit the regulation of the issue at the national level, which is another very dangerous attack on the sovereignty of the member states - draws the attention of the international news agency V4NA.
Although the defenders of the right to life, of which I am one, were very active during the parliamentary debates, the abortion lobby is in the majority in the legislature. They will try to impose their extremely liberal idea of law on all member states. I would only add that this idea is fundamentally anti-humanist and anti-woman
said the right-wing politician. He added that if the right to abortion is included in the Charter of Fundamental Rights, it will increase the pressure on Polish lawmakers from Brussels and give the current government coalition an alibi to pass laws that contradict the constitution and legislative traditions.
Spanish MEP Margarita de la Pisa Carrió also spoke in defense of life at the last debate in the European Parliament. Then he talked about how we were all created as members of the human family and our existence does not depend on whether others accept it or not.
"Given the importance of pregnancy, we women need support, information and tenderness, because when we are faced with helplessness or difficulty, the proposal of abortion does not allow a truly free and informed decision. Let's help women solve the circumstances that led them to this dramatic decision: poverty, loneliness, the risk of losing their jobs, the fear of not being accepted or losing their freedom"
- declared the Spanish politician.
