The young girl with a heart condition who learned last year that she didn't have much time left has died, but in her last months she lived according to her dreams.
He came to me, hugged me, complained of low heart rate and abdominal pain. I saw him sway. He sat down on the chair and suddenly fell forward. He didn't breathe. I called the ambulance. I started CPR and help arrived within minutes
recalled Zsuzsi Csire's mother.
Beatrix Tóthmartinez also talked about how the doctors fought for her daughter's life for five hours, but Zsuzsi's heart finally gave up. "He's been sick several times lately, but he fought until the last minute, he never gave up," he wrote on his social media page.
Zsuzsi Csire from Debrecen was born healthy, but when she was ten years old, she developed severe myocarditis of viral origin. His only chance was a heart transplant: he first underwent heart surgery in 2013, but his body produced antibodies against the new heart, so a life-saving intervention was needed again in 2021. However, his immune system did not accept the organ even now, acute rejection reactions occurred. Her doctors then told Zsuzsi that her heart would probably only beat for a few months, at best a few years.
The girl decided that as long as her heart was beating, she would try to experience as many experiences as possible.
For this very reason, the young girl made a bucket list, which the whole country helped her achieve: she could try fencing, but she went to the theater in the capital, and she also inaugurated some cafes, and professional photos were also taken of her. The young girl then said:
People who don't know me don't know, but I can be extremely happy with even the smallest things. I also told my mother that it's not necessarily the offerings that go down well, but that so much love flows towards me that I've never felt before. When we found out that there was a problem, I closed myself off, I was very alone with my illness. Now that so many people have embraced me, it gives me strength
- he revealed, then added: someone wrote that he would rather give his heart to me, just so that I could live.
It used to be my wish that if I ever leave here, my hair and organs, which are intact, will be given to other people. Let me help in my own way, let others live if I can no longer live. This wish of mine cannot be fulfilled because of the medicines.
In addition to everyday desires such as camping, ice-skating or walking the dog, the sick girl's list also included bigger dreams: she wanted to see the sea, Paris and the most beautiful places in Greece, but she no longer had time for them.
A country says goodbye to Zsuzsi Csire
The news of the girl's death shocked everyone, in addition to her family and friends, many entertainers, organizations and NGOs said goodbye to her, including, among others, the Research and Rescue Team of the General Directorate of Disaster Prevention and the Hungarian Reformed Charity Service.
Zsuzsi was not only a member of our team, but our toughest, bravest volunteer firefighter who never knew fear
- they wrote on their social media page.
