Emotions are running high on the Internet after the news came to light that Francesca Amewudah-Rivers will be paired with Tom Holland, who played Romeo in William Shakespeare's world-famous drama Romeo and Juliet.

Many dissenting voices were raised in this regard, including more vulgar ones (saying that Rivers prefers to marry a man with a mustache than a woman) and more moderate ones (such as the fact that Julia is a white character), and it seems that the director, Jaime Lloyd couldn't leave him speechless either.

He posted a message on Instagram, writing:

"This must be ordered to stop. A member of our company was subjected to disgusting racist attacks."

He added: "We insist that our troupe members can create freely without encountering hate online."
