Everyone is waiting for Viktor Orbán's next speech: the most read article of the benchmark The Brussels Times focuses on next week's National Conservatism Conference, at which one of the star speakers will be Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. Meanwhile, in Europe's capital, members of the far-left Antifa are doing everything they can to oppose the event together with the socialist leadership.

In Western Europe, all eyes are on next week's National Conservatism Conference (NatCon): the most read article of the benchmark The Brussels Times is related to the event.

Of course, the great interest is no accident:

at the event, speakers such as German Cardinal Gerhard Müller, Amichai Chikli, Israel's Minister responsible for Diaspora Affairs and the fight against anti-Semitism, former British Home Secretary Suella Braverman, as well as many influential MEPs, as well as authors of award-winning books and recognized scientists.

This is not the first time that Europe is paying attention in this way, in fact, a few weeks ago, the growing role of national conservatism came into focus on the front page of one of the world's most respected weekly newspapers, The Economist. The compilation mainly analyzed the politics of Donald Trump and Viktor Orbán: it was established that they are important members of the global community that is united by an ideology.

"They feel that conservatism is theirs now, and they may be right"

the authors wrote.

The NatCon, which is based around the theme of "Preserving Nation States in Europe", has been held in recent years in London, Washington, Rome and Miami, among others, almost without problems - the only difficulty was caused by the coronavirus - and even two years ago in Brussels, but now it seems that the European Union all hell broke loose in his capital.

Disregarding the freedom of expression, anti-fascist groups are doing everything to make the event impossible, and the socialist city administration apparently does not stand for the values of democracy.

The friends of the radical far-left activists recently attacked innocent couples walking home holding hands with brutal cruelty in Budapest - but now they fear the city from cardinals, scientists and writers.

One of the sponsors of the conference, the Israeli Herzl Institute, wrote that progressive, cultural neo-Marxism is trying to take control of the leading institutions worldwide, and the European Union would destroy the authority of sovereign countries and use its economic power to force political and ideological compliance in such a way on topics such as immigration or energy security.

The main organizer of the event, the head of the world-famous Edmund Burke Foundation, Yoram Hazony, revealed that the socialist leadership of the municipality put pressure on the privately owned venue not to host the conservative event.

It is unbelievable that Brussels wants to be the capital of the union of democracies, but in its own city it does not tolerate conservatives criticizing the left. If Brussels cannot accommodate a debate, neither can the capital of Europe

- stated Hazony, who promises a spectacular conference despite what happened.

This is not the first time that freedom of speech is trampled underfoot in the West, which is concerned about the rule of law. In Germany, the management of the academic foundation, which operates with state money, is afraid of a single liberal journalist, and therefore does not allow its scholarship holder, Professor Werner J. Patzelt, who has a common value with Hungary, to give a lecture on conservatism as an inevitable expert on the subject.
