Brussels has a lot to blame: pro-immigration policy, support for migration; the failed management of illegal migration can change the image of the entire European continent, Fidesz representative Pál Zsigmond Barna writes in his columnist for Magyar Nemzet.
As a reminder: everyone knows the serious economic, cultural and security consequences of the migration crisis since 2015.
In Hungary, we have been saying since 2015 that the pro-immigration policy will permanently destroy Europe's security, culture, and economy."
- underlines the representative, who says that it is critical from a security point of view that a correlation can be shown between the increase in terrorism and illegal migration.
Pál Zsigmond Barna explains: Europe is currently surrounded by a number of armed conflicts that can trigger significant waves of migration. According to him, Brussels has imported the hitherto remote conflicts into Europe -
with migration, terror, anti-Semitism, increasing violence and crime also moved to Europe.
"In addition, population growth in North Africa, a series of military coups in the Sahel region, as well as climate change experienced there and the ever-increasing food supply insecurity caused by the non-arrival of Ukrainian grain may result in a new and even more massive influx into Europe," emphasizes the Fidesz politician. He adds: they have factual data about
that several jihadists carrying out attacks in Europe were registered at European borders before committing their attacks.
According to Pál Zsigmond Barna, the problems have not subsided over the years, and in fact, as he puts it, migration pressure "is increasing year by year throughout Europe as a result of faulty decision-making in Brussels".
"From the point of view of Hungary, what the pro-war leadership in Brussels is currently doing is regrettable and shocking, because they do not want to stop illegal migration, but to spread it and finance it, committing another historic mistake against Europe," he asserts.
It's a more dangerous moment than ever
According to the politician, we are now at a more dangerous moment than ever before, because they want to force Hungary to resettle migrants with harsher means than ever before.
This week, Brussels once again opened wide the continent's gates to illegal immigrants,
on April 10, the plenary session of the European Parliament adopted the migration and asylum pact containing ten legislative proposals. The pact is an open letter of invitation for migrants, which is against the will of the European people, including the majority of Hungarians," explains the politician, who says that the enthusiasm of the member states for the pact is far from uniform.
Reminder: Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár, for example, already stated the day after the vote that the migration pact is an unsustainable method in the long term, which is insufficient to protect the Schengen area against illegal migration.
"At the previous, ambassador-level consultation regarding the pact, Poland voted no for all the legislative drafts that were part of the package, and Slovakia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Malta, Lithuania and Slovenia were also critical of certain dossiers," writes Pál Zsigmond Barna.
Mismanaged migration
The Fidesz representative also reveals:
according to the latest polls, 71 percent of Europeans think that Brussels is handling migration badly.
"Nevertheless, the European Parliament, which is nearing the end of its mandate due to the European Parliament elections in June, felt that the imposition of the migration pact could not be postponed. The sad reality was thus clearly shown: the left-liberal elite in Brussels, which serves various interest groups in a mercenary manner, is even able to override the interests and values of its own constituents in order to assert its will," he says.
Two types of migrant quotas
Pál Zsigmond Barna also explains that the new Brussels regulations want to introduce two types of mandatory migrant quotas,
as a result of which the mass resettlement of migrants would begin in Hungary within two years.
On the one hand, it requires our country to assess 8,490 cases on a permanent basis at the external border, which is nearly 30 percent of the total EU capacity. It is thought-provoking that, on the other hand, Greece, which is on the front line of the Western Balkan migration route, would be burdened with a quota of only 1,650 people, and Bulgaria with six hundred people. This would mean the creation of migrant ghettos and also carries a huge security risk.
On the other hand, in the spirit of solidarity, we should also take in illegal immigrants arriving in other member states,
and if we do not fulfill the mandatory migrant quota set for us, we have to pay twenty thousand euros for every migrant not accepted.
According to Pál Zsigmond Barna, "the main problem with the system is that, based on past events or theoretical modeling, it is impossible to estimate what kind of migration masses we can expect in the future depending on the development of the world political situation, the European borders could be besieged by millions of migrants".
The government still won't let in illegal immigrants
The representative of the government party underlines: Hungary consistently believes that the problem should not be brought here, but the solution should be taken to the regions from which illegal migrants are leaving.
"The upcoming Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union has therefore set its banner on the strengthening of the external dimension of migration, i.e. the union's cooperation with third countries, as well as the promotion of innovative initiatives and negotiations," he added, and also noted that, according to the government, the creation of migrant ghettos instead, efforts should be made for the European Union to develop mutually beneficial, comprehensive and balanced partnerships with the key countries of origin and transit, which are able to address the root causes of migration locally, as well as the fight against human trafficking and migrant smuggling and to increase returns more effectively.
What is needed is not a migration pact that destroys Europe, but effective border protection and the assessment of applications outside the border!"
he stated.
"Change is needed in Brussels, the current pro-war and pro-immigration leadership is completely destroying Europe. A lot depends on the elections in June, we have reached a very dangerous moment, migration could finally be unleashed on the member states and the war could escalate if this direction remains in Brussels. We hope that there will be a right-wing turn in the upcoming European Parliament elections on June 9, which will prevent left-wing politicians from plunging European citizens into new crises and danger," concluded the politician.
