It is important that on June 9, in the European Parliament elections, people who make pragmatic decisions based on common sense will be in the majority - Lóránt Vincze , candidate for the European Parliament of the Romanian Hungarian Democratic Alliance (RMDSZ), said on the current channel M1 on Saturday morning.
Lóránt Vincze said that Transylvanian Hungarians want a European Union that is like themselves: an organization that thinks with common sense and is nourished by their traditions. A union that is getting stronger and can help regions that are catching up, such as Transylvania, Partium, Székelyföld and Bánság.
He added that the people living there expect to strengthen the support of the indigenous communities.
In matters in which the mother country cannot help, the European Union should help the minority communities. He hasn't done that so far.
Because of this, "there are dissatisfactions with EU leaders and decisions". This is what the next few weeks are about: let's talk about the problems and change them at the election.
In relation to minority rights, the Minority Safepack initiative, he noted that the European Parliament supported it with a large majority, but the European Commission "swept it off the table", which took away the will of more than one million signatories, but the will of more than 50 million people belonging to indigenous minorities to nothing.
They wanted an EU regulation to protect indigenous communities. This is also the biggest problem with the European Commission.
"Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the committee, promised me personally that they would do something to protect indigenous minorities, they would support the Minority Safepack, but they did not do it, which is a shame for the committee"
- remarked the Hungarian politician in Romania.
Not only the Hungarians living abroad, but also the native European minorities in general expect that the representatives of the RMDSZ will be there in the European Parliament, because together with several other Hungarians, they are the flag bearers for the protection of minorities, Lóránt Vincze stated.
