The Skeptic Society sent invitations to all finalists, but none of them were present. The not-so-flattering "award", the Laposföld prize, was awarded in 2024 to the Hungarian Homeopathic Medical Association, a group of doctors who use homeopathy as a treatment based on pseudoscientific foundations.
This year, the Skeptic Society also presented the Flat Earth Award on Earth Day, which honors the person or organization who, in the past year, in Hungarian,
spread misconceptions, fake news, pseudo-scientific or anti-scientific views to a wide public,
and in the opinion of the Skeptic Society and its sympathizers, it caused the greatest social damage, "eroding the social acceptance of science, common sense and facts", they said in their statement sent to MTI.
The referees were not present

At the event, Gábor András Pintér, the president of the Skeptic Society, explained the nature of the award, the selection process, and then the part of the work of the finalists, based on which it was decided that they could be potential awardees. Finally, he announced the 2024 prize winner, the communiqué revealed.
