A record number of applicants, more than 100,000 volunteers, registered for this year's TeSzedd! for a waste collection campaign - announced Zsófia Koncz, the parliamentary state secretary of the Ministry of Energy, on Monday, on the first day of the national program at Vál in Fejér County.
Zsófia Koncz emphasized that the Hungarian government considers the protection of the created environment and the transfer of a clean, safe, livable environment to future generations to be of utmost importance. To this end, a number of actions and projects have been launched, among which the TeSzedd! action, which is practically Hungary's largest voluntary waste collection action, and it was organized for the twelfth time this year, he added.
The state secretary indicated that nearly 100,000 volunteers took part in the campaign in 2023, but this year the interest was even greater. He thinks it is
it is important both for the fight against illegal waste and for the promotion of volunteering.
Zsófia Koncz mentioned that the TeSzedd! In addition, several tenders were launched within the framework of the Clean Up the Country project.
The waste radar application was also launched, which was downloaded by more than 31,000 people, and within the framework of this, the country was freed from more than half a million tons of illegal waste.
The state secretary said that the application deadline for the second round of the Clean up the country program was March 27, and municipalities, civil organizations, religious legal entities, and business organizations could apply. For the first time this year, a joint, year-round, illegal waste collection campaign was launched with the National Civil Guard Association. The ministry is supporting this with HUF 200 million, and more than a thousand associations will participate, he added.
Zoltán Tessely, the region's parliamentary representative, said:
it should be tied to a license so that private individuals can transport municipal waste on public roads, and if they violate this, they should be severely punished.
He believed that this could significantly prevent the generation of illegally dumped waste.
Mayor Tamás Bechtold called it a matter of pride that there is hardly any illegally dumped waste in the interior of the settlement. There are a few hotspots in the outskirts, which will now be eradicated as part of the action.
In Válon, in addition to the ministry's employees, the state secretary responsible for the water utilities sector, Zsolt V. Németh, as well as the employees of the National Waste Management Coordinating and Asset Management Co., Ltd. and the National Water Works Co., Ltd. also participated in the waste collection.
