Mayor-candidate Dávid Vitézy asked Gergely Karácsony not to run away from controversies and to accept the invitations.

"According to the latest press reports, Gergely Karácsony canceled the mayor-candidate debate organized by ATV yesterday with completely fabricated reasons. While Klára Dobrev calls Péter Magyar to account in five posts a day for why he doesn't debate on all major channels that offer this, DK's own candidate for mayor is only looking for people to dodge the debates.

Dávid Vitézy drew attention in his statement Media1 .

The mayoral candidate gladly accepted the invitation of Márton Gulyás, the parties will debate on Partizán on May 31, but Dávid Vitézy sees that an internet channel is far from reaching everyone.

I respectfully ask Gergely Karácsony not to run away from the debates, think again and accept the request of ATV, which he has just rejected, or RTL, which he had previously rejected

Dávid Vitézy sent a message to the mayor.

Péter Ungár: The school example of the spoken word

"Klára Dobrev attacks Péter Magyar by saying that as a responsible candidate it is his duty to take on all debates. He specifically spoke about this yesterday in Ejenes Beszéd, when he said that it was unacceptable that Péter Magyar did not accept ATV's invitation to debate, because it is not possible to consider it based on political aspects, and in each and every situation it must be shown that the opposition represents a higher quality political culture."

reminded Péter Ungár.

The co-chairman of the LMP continued by saying that a few hours later the news appeared that Gergely Karácsony, "the candidate of the Democratic Coalition, canceled the mayoral candidate debate organized by ATV citing ridiculous arguments. And here it is worth quoting exactly the justification that can be read in the letter published on Média1 and written by András Simon (former campaign manager of Péter Márki-Zay, current communications director of Gergely Karácsony):

»no one can guarantee how many of the four mayoral candidates registered by the FVB will actually participate in debates on the Partizán program and elsewhere«, and if Karácsony were to participate in several mayoral candidate debates in the company of the same one or possibly two candidates, »it would it can give the false impression that there are only two or maybe three candidates".

Completely meaningless sentences, a school example of the excuse. And it means a whole new level of political magic tricks, that while one of the candidates of the Democratic Coalition is sitting inside the ATV and says that you have to come here to debate, the other candidate of the Democratic Coalition does the exact opposite. I would only like to respectfully request that the party decide which position it represents, and that Klára Dobrev next attack other candidates, otherwise legitimately, if no one around her own house lowers the moral bar she has set

asked Péter Ungár.

Gergely Karácsony: There will be a debate

At 1:45 p.m., Gergely Karácsony responded to the debate on his Facebook page in four points:

"The debate is a fundamental element of democratic competition, it is not even a question".

“There will be a debate. May 31 at Partizán. Of course, we all know that the Fidesz B candidate does not dare to come, so this will not be a debate between the mayor candidates, but a Vitézy-Karácsony debate, that's okay, it will be good".

"The mayor-candidate debate means that the mayor-candidates take part in it. There are four mayoral candidates. If my challengers, or at least Alexandra Szentkirályi, who is in second place according to the surveys, take up the debate, I will definitely be there, on any channel, it doesn't depend on me".

"I would be happy to participate in the public debate of the list leaders in the capital, it is a ten-person situation, it wouldn't last for a TV show. But more importantly, all list leaders owe it to the people of Budapest to make it clear who they would send to the Capital Assembly and what interests their candidates are preparing to represent. If any TV channel organizes this, I will be there too".

"Then will it be there or will it run away?"

Péter Ungár commented on the following question under the mayor's post:

"Dear Mayor, this is a very exciting text. Will he be there at the ATV mayoral candidate debate or will he run away?"

Dávid Vitézy also appeared in the comment section, who, like Péter Ungár, asked Gergely Karácsony about the ATV debate. The mayor-candidate then quoted Klára Dobrev's sentences about that, which he addressed to Péter Magyar in connection with the debate.

"If you don't listen to me, at least listen to the person you've been using most of the time lately, Klára Dobrev, whom you consider the most suitable candidate for prime minister. In the spirit of this, I hope to see you at the mayoral candidate debate organized by ATV"

Dávid Vitézy wrote.
