Many groups of pilgrims left early in the morning to participate in the Pentecost farewell on Saturday. Many of them have been away from their homes for days and have traveled hundreds of kilometers to reach the Hármashalom altar where they can pray together.
Many pilgrims arrive on foot, defying the fatigue, and as in previous years, about two thousand traveled from Hungary to Hargita County. Already early in the morning, the crowd covered the streets of Csíkszereda, the pilgrims headed towards Csíksomlyó with flags in their hands while singing church songs and praying.
At 12:30 p.m., the celebratory mass begins at the Hármashalom altar, with Pécs county bishop László Felföldi as the speaker.
The Pentecost Saturday program continues at 5:00 p.m. with a Holy Mass in the parish church of St. Peter and Paul. In the afternoon, there will be a Pentecost vigil mass in the church, where there will be a vigil from Saturday to Sunday.
On May 19, Pentecost Sunday, the feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit, the order of the Masses in the church of grace is: 7, 8, 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. On May 20, Whit Monday, the order of the Masses is: 8, 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In order for the event to run smoothly, hundreds of gendarmes, police and firemen, as well as dozens of rescue units and Red Cross volunteers will help on the spot.
