In several categories, Székelyföld has a winner in Romania's Destination of the Year 2024 tourism parade, whose prizes were awarded on Tuesday evening at a gala organized in the Ateneul Roman concert hall in Bucharest. It is located in Szejkefürdő near Székelyudvarhely in the category of adventure and adventure parks

Mini Erdély Park has become this year's tourist destination in Romania.

In the multicultural thematic model park created by the Székelyföld Legendárium team, visitors can see miniature replicas of more than 120 historical buildings of Transylvania. Mini Erdély Park, which can also be toured with the mini train (Mini Székely Gőzös), had more than 120,000 (mainly domestic) visitors last year.

This year, in the category of image films, the advertising film commissioned by Visit Harghita, which promotes Harghita County as a family-friendly destination and founded by the Hargita Community Development Association, and produced by the Picture Lock film studio in Székelyudvarhely, won.

Also in the "boutique hotels" category, a tourist enterprise from Székelyföld, the Dániel Kastélyszálló operating in Olasztelk, Kovászna county, became the tourist destination of the year in Romania. Built in the Renaissance and Classicist style at the beginning of the 17th century by the vice-captain Dániel Mihály of Tříszék, the castle, which has since been remodeled several times and operated as a luxury hotel, features contemporary furnishings, rooms furnished in different styles and wall paintings depicting the Dániel family create a unique atmosphere.

In the holiday resorts category, the town of Szováta, popular for its heliothermal Medve lake, villas reminiscent of 19th-century spa towns, and modern wellness hotels, came third this year behind Törcsvár (Bran) and Félixfürdő.

The project "Tusnádfürdő and its surroundings" received shared third place in the ecotourism category, behind a tourism company from the Danube Delta and a tourism company from the Hátszeg area. The city of Sibiu won first place in the "inspirational cities" category and - as the category winner with the most votes - the Destination of the Year 2024 grand prize.

Winners were announced in 13 categories this year at the Romanian tourism fair, the order of the rankings was decided by a professional jury of more than 200 tourism professionals, hundreds of thousands of online public votes and a nationwide public opinion poll.
